JOB DETAILS:

The JCTR resource centre is an information and material hub. Material relevant to JCTR programming, JCTR staff as well as external target audience. Materials available range from development, human rights, government policies in various sectors, climatic change to Christian teachings and general knowledge.
The centre has the capacity to be a source of income if and when well organized and materials well documented and catalogued.
It is for this reason that the JCTR, makes the request for library and information studies qualified personnel on a volunteer basis to assist in organising the information centre for easy access and management going forward.
2. Proposed Timeframe
The proposed period for the reorganization exercise/ volunteer period is two month
3. Purpose and Objective
To spearhead the reorganization of the resource room and building a database for the relevant materials
Library and Information Internship
For the provision of easy management and maintenance of print and electronic resources through an electronic database management system. The position reports to the Media and Information Officer and works as an effective member of a team under general supervision. .

  Job Responsibilities:
• Code, classify, and catalog books, publications, and other library materials based on subject matter or standard library classification systems.
• Develop and index databases of library materials
• Organize library materials so they are easy to find, and maintain collections
• With oversight from M+I select relevant materials to be retained in information center and materials to be discarded

Job Skills:
• Demonstrated experience in and understanding of library services and or higher education environments
• Experience in use of relevant library and information management systems
• Demonstrated proficiency with relevant technology in the workplace

• The appointee will have: a diploma or degree in library and/or information studies with subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
