Overall Job Purpose:
The position of the Lubricator is to maximise plant availability through exceptional lubrication of all running plant units so as to maintain operational integrity of the plant & equipment in order to achieve production targets.
Reporting directly to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the Lubricator shall be responsible for providing the highest quality services and that all services provided are performed within a safe and timely manner.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;
• Oils and greasing of all moving parts of friction surfaces of mechanical equipment, like shafts, bearings, drive chains, gears, gearboxes and pulleys according to specified procedures or oral instructions.
• Fills container, like oilcan, grease gun or tank of lubrication truck with specified reservoirs.
• Turns oil cup valves to regulate flow of oil to moving parts.
• Squirts or pours oil on moving parts friction surfaces or into holes.
• Forces grease into bearings with grease gun, smears grease on friction surfaces or packs grease cups and rolling elements by hand.
• Fills wells, sumps of lubricating system with adequate oil and specifications.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctioning to supervisor.
• May clean machines, sweep floors and transport stock
• Attend to auto Lube machines.
• Take oil samples

Experience required to perform in this job:
• 1 year’ exposure in the mining industry or equivalent private industry.
• Knowledge of different types of lubrication, lubricants and application
• The ability to follow planned schedules and procedures
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications:
• Grade 12 Certificate
• A Craft certificate as a mechanical fitter from a recognized institution [higher qualifications will be advantageous].
• EIZ Certification
