JOB DETAILS:
The Required Skills for this Role Include:
• Managing the overall function of the mechanical workshop.
• Managing and planning preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance on all Company vehicles.
• Diagnosing, adjusting, repairing overhaul vehicles, maintaining and repairing any type of engines.
• Inspecting and verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specification.
• Monitoring progress and inspecting completed work to ensure the required standards are achieved by the mechanics.
• Undertaking unplanned work resulting from breakdown and emergencies, which is to be dealt with in an efficient manner (24 hours call out).
• Ensuring all log books, requisition books and departmental records are effectively maintained to enable stock control, ordering of parts and all other workshop functions operate efficiently.
• Determining vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Producing weekly, monthly and annual statistics reports.
• Examining vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
• Testing vehicles and testing components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges and computerized diagnostic devices.

The Required Qualifications are:
• Grade 12 School certificate or equivalent with at least 5 credits.
• Must have a minimum qualification of Heavy Equipment Repair Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair.
• Certification from a vocation school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus.
• Must be computer literate.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering.
• Must have valid driver’ license.

The Required Attributes Include:
• Very good communication skills.
• A problem-solving ability.
• Excellent knowledge in repairing DAF trucks.
• Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
• Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
