Background
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), under the CGIAR initiative Ukama Ustawi: Diversification in East and Southern Africa, is looking to conduct an impact evaluation of gender edutainment through a popular TV show targeting smallholder farmers in Zambia. To that end, IFPRI is seeking a firm to produce the content for two episodes in a popular TV show and broadcast this content on nationwide TV. The work will be conducted end of 2022 with the potential to extend deadlines into 2023.
Scope of work
• Produce 2 episodes with gender-transformative content targeting smallholder farmers.
• Broadcast these episodes via a popular TV show that is available nationwide.
Required qualifications of the consultant / team leader
• Experience producing TV shows for smallholder farmers with a demonstrated effect on smallholder farmers’ knowledge and practices.
• Having a TV show around issues that are relevant to smallholder farmers’ lives ready to be rolled out in Zambia.
• Existing connections with CGIAR centers participating in the Ukama Ustawa initiative (particularly the Alliance of Bioversity-CIAT).
• Sound understanding of gender issues and experience disseminating messages around gender issues that are central in smallholder farmers’ lives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred qualifications
• Experience in agricultural economics, rural development, nutrition, and/or food security field.
• Having team members on board with proficiency in local languages in Zambia.
