Job Overview The Payroll & Compliance Manager will be responsible for processing payroll and filing all monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory filings including NAPSA, PAYE, VAT, Withholding tax, and income tax by applicable deadlines. The Payroll & Compliance Manager will also be responsible for understanding all regulatory requirements, assessing and implementing processes & policies to ensure Company compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing audits by regulators. The Payroll & Compliance Manager will report to the Director of Operations & Finance and work closely with the Talent and Accounting teams to ensure payroll and regulatory filings are complete, accurate, and processed timely. Due to the sensitive nature of this role and information, we expect the highest levels of professionalism, dependability, and integrity. .

  Key Responsibilities
Payroll:
• Coordinate with Talent, Accounting & Department Heads to ensure payroll is processed timely;
• Handle employee queries around payroll processes;
• Manage the relationship with 3rd party payroll provider for system related updates / improvements; and
• Process and reconcile payroll transactions and accounts in the accounting system (SAP).
• Regulatory compliance:
• Prepare and file all periodic regulatory filings including VAT, PAYE, WHT, NAPSA, and income tax by required deadlines;
• Understand all regulatory requirements and build policies and processes to ensure Company compliance in filings, financial reporting, and general operations;
• Understand all regulatory requirements and build policies & processes to ensure Company compliance; and
Manage audits by the ZRA & NAPSA.
Other:
• Prepare month-end reconciliations for payroll & regulatory accounts and respond to any external audit requests around payroll / regulatory transactions;
• If required, assist Accounting team and 3rd party consultants in preparation of annual income tax return; and
• Perform other tasks as required by Director of Operations & Finance or other members of the Fenix management team

  Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Finance or Accounting
• 5 years experience in Accounts or Regulatory capacity
• ZICA or ACCA qualified (or working towards Level 3)

• Ability to work independently, take ownership of and manage ongoing responsibilities;
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English)
