JOB DETAILS:
INTRODUCTION:
• African Rivers is currently seeking for at least four (04) skilled and dedicated young graduates to join us as Project Assistants or Researchers (Interns) for a period of five (05) months. African Rivers is an international not-for-profit conservation organization legally registered under the Zambian laws pursuant to the Non-Governmental Organizations’ Act, No. 16 of 2009. The guiding philosophy for African Rivers is ‘‘Water, Life and Peace’’ knowing that we all cannot survive on planet earth without rivers.
• African Rivers collaborates with researchers, environmentalists, conservanists, social enterprises, youth and women groups, public and private schools, institutions, traditional leaders, firms, and development partners that are dedicated to promoting best practices in conserving nature, embracing climate friendly methods, protect the health of rivers and defending the rights of the local river communities around the river basins across Africa.
• African Rivers has since developed a ‘‘Pan-African Young Professional Graduates Programme’’ focusing on recruiting interns into the organisation in order to give them meaningful work experience, exposure to programs for development and networking, and provide them the opportunity to move into a fulltime career post-graduation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Project Assistant or Researcher (Interns) is a person who assists the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OF African Rivers and other organisation Staff in planning, executing and monitoring projects. The Project Assistants or Researchers shall operate under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer. The following are the responsibilities of the Project Assistant or Researcher:
• Write concept notes and organisation briefs.
• Conducting research and reporting on project progress.
• Ability to create a database comprising of diverse stakeholders.
• Undertake operational and administrative tasks, such as organizing meetings, preparing draft work plans & budgets, writing minutes and reports.
• Collaborate with various teams, personnel, and stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are completed at the right time.
• Processes routine items and records.
• Operate various office equipment.
• Answer phones and take messages or provide relevant information.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance and reporting.
• Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Grade Twelve (12) Certificate or Equivalent.
• National Registration Card (NRC).
• Degree in economics, business administration, environment, agroeconomics, forestry, law, engineering, marketing, procurement, computer science, or releated field.
• A Masters Degree is an added advantage.
• Age between 18 and 35 years.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle cash transactions with honesty and integrity.
• Exceptional numerical and practical computer skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
