Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
• Project development, management and Implementation
• Ensure quality and timely implementation and monitoring of the project’s interventions in line with the approved project scope.
• Ensure that project interventions are implemented in compliance with the donor guidelines and regulations.
• Ensure project implementation is in line with the Ministry of Education (MoE) National Strategies and relevant standards and policies.
• Work with grants finance team to ensure financial compliance with set donor standards and that the project expenditure is within acceptable levels.
• Develop and apply risk mitigation strategies to monitor and adapt to contextual and other operational, financial and technical risks.
• Establish leadership and maintain clearly understood chain of authority and accountability.
• Support resource mobilization initiatives that may be required to scale-up and/or deepen the impact of the project.
• Build and maintain relationship with internal and external partners/stakeholders for enhanced collaboration and sustainability
• Ensure the integration of gender and disability in project implementation.
• Capacity Building, People Management and Partnership
• Support staff orientation and participate in building capacity through coaching and mentoring for increased/enhanced competency.
• Provide input in performance appraisal of project staff for increased accountability.
• Build and maintain relationship with internal and external partners/stakeholders for enhanced collaboration and sustainability of project intervention.
• Motivate staff (Development Facilitators) by creating a fair and open work environment in which they can realized their potential for growth, technical capacities, and satisfaction with their work.
• Provide strategic leadership and supervision of sub-grantee and monitor its performance.
• Programme Effectiveness and Quality Assurance
• Guide the development of detailed implementation plan that will support the delivery of the project objectives throughout the life of project.
• Track performance of targets in line with the Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs).
• In collaboration with the project M&E Specialist, facilitate project monitoring and evaluations.
• Facilitate joint monitoring with MoE in Namwala district for effective implementation and quality control.
• Compile, and timely submit monthly, quarterly and annual project reports for improved implementation and decision making.
• In collaboration with the project M&E Specialist and MoE, conduct project review for improved quality of programming.
• Participate in documenting and sharing project lessons and promising practices with partners and stakeholders.
Other:
• Show spiritual maturity, integrity and energetic personality, through attendance of daily devotions and other spiritual nurture programmes.
• Other duties as designated by the Line Manager or his/her delegate.
• Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
• Master’s degree in Education or relevant field with minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant field.
• University Degree in Education or relevant field with minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant field.
• Experience in identifying and working with ‘High-risk’, ‘Most at risk’ Most Vulnerable Children.
• Excellent knowledge of the Zambian Education system – a must.
• Experience working in a complex, international organisation preferably NGO context
• Proven skills and experience in project management (Planning, budgeting, budget tracking report writing).
• Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and report writing essential
• Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, decision-making, conflict management, negotiation, networking, liaison and donor engagement skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of World Vision operations would be an added advantage,
• Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and functional teams.
• Computer literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
