The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) has set aside funds to finance the feasibility studies for the construction of small dams that will contribute to enhanced socio-economic development and improve the livelihoods of populations in the semi-arid regions of the country. The program will be implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources Development and Sanitation through the Department of Water Resources Development.

The Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation seeks the services of technical experts to carry out Consultancy Services for feasibility studies and the development of engineering designs for a total of twenty-eight (28) proposed new dam sites in various locations across the country. The twenty-eight (28) proposed new dam sites are split into 8 different lots.

The services included under this consultancy component will include;

• Conduct a reconnaissance survey of the proposed dam sites-Field Work
• Conduct detailed topographical surveys-Field Work
• Conduct detailed geotechnical assessments for each dam site
• Prepare detailed working drawings, design reports, confidential cost estimates, and Bills of Quantity-Desk Work
• Conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment/ Environmental Project Brief for each dam site and prepare site-specific Environmental and Social Safeguards

The Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).

Eligibility criteria, the establishment of the shortlist, and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the ZPPA Act No. 8 of 2020. “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants.”

Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address given below during office hours between 08:00 hours to 13:00 hours and 14:00 hours to 17:00 hours local time.
Sealed Expressions of Interest clearly marked “Consultancy Services for Feasibility Studies and Development of Engineering Designs of Twenty-Eight (28) Proposed New Dam Sites in Various Locations across the Country”, should be deposited in the Tender Box located on the first floor of the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, Corner of Tito & Nasser Roads, Rhodespark, Lusaka, ZAMBIA, on or before 28 July 2023 at 10:30 hours local time.
