BOREHOLE REHABILITATION, DEVELOPMENT, HAND PUMP INSTALLATION AND ASSOCIATED CIVIL CONSTRUCTION WORK

DAI, the implementer of the USAID funded Scaling Up Nutrition Technical Assistance (SUN TA Project, invites qualified bidders to submit proposals for the proposed work described below. The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to invite bidders who have demonstrated experience and expertise in the following specialized borehole construction and rehabilitation services:

  • Borehole construction, development, pumping tests and hand pump installation.
  • High quality civil works including fencing and concrete work.
  • Re-lining of boreholes with uPVC borehole casing and screens (if required).
  • Training of local Area Pump Menders (APM's), technical report writing and project management skills and production of "As built drawings of completed borehole rehabilitation and associated civil works. RFP:

Companies must meet the following requirements to be eligible to bid on this f

  • Demonstrated experience in drilling and rehabilitating boreholes, constructing civil works, and equipping with handpumps.
  • Demonstrated implementation of at least 5 similar borehole rehabilitation contracts each of a contract value of at least $50,000 USD (US Dollar) during the last 5 years.
  • Offerors must be Zambia-licensed and legally organized businesses, organizations, or firms. Individual consultants will not be considered for this RFP,
  • Offerors must have all required licenses, permits and certificates including but not limited to valid certificate of incorporation, Tax Clearance Certificate, VAT (Value Added Tax) Registration Certificate, registrations with relevant authorities such as Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), Zambia Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) and National Council for Construction (NCC). The offerors (drillers) hydrologist/geologist must also show proof of updated practicing license with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).

Prospective bidders must possess at least:

  • Two functioning 4x4 or 6x6 mobile drill rigs, mobile compressors capable of achieving 100psi minimum.
  • Borehole water/air jetting equipment, borehole pump testing equipment
  • Portable generator, submersible pump and 5,000 liter water bowser.
  • Diesel or electric powered concrete mixers of at least 1.5cubic meters capacity, Concrete poker/vibrator, component fishing equipment and adequate work tools.

The deadline for responding to this RFP is 5:00 PM, Lasaka local time on 24 January 2023. Responses received after the deadline may not be reviewed and may be rejected by SUNTA.
