Job Purpose
Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for the daily sales efforts and is responsible for the overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication and the development of customers for the property including, Rooms, Dining Outlets, and Events. In addition, they are responsible for rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation, market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, status, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision-making skills and an astute business acumen.

Key Responsibilities
•Develop action plans and set objectives for increased revenue and maximum profit for hotel management
•Implement sales and marketing strategies necessary for attracting clients to patronize the hotel
•Maintain a clear understanding of hotel policies and ensure compliance
•Clear understanding of the hotels business strategies then set goals and to determine action plans to meet those goals.
•Carry out research and analysis to identify new markets and business opportunities
•Oversees and works in collaboration with Human Resources in the training of all Hotel personnel on the Guest Courtesy and sales aspects
•Seek out business with large organizations such as churches, sports clubs or corporate firms to convince them to patronize their hotel
•Prepare and distribute promotional and advertisement materials internally and externally to create awareness for hotel products/services
•Maintain a complete knowledge of all the services a hotel provides so as to conduct successful sales
•Explain and notify clients of recent upgrades and available options for hotel services
•Oversee the management of all contracted client accounts and ensure compliance with Credit Policy.
•Collaborate with event and wedding planners to ensure increased patronage and hotel booking
•Oversee the processing of payments and offering discounts to client when necessary
•Assign job duties to hotel personnel and ensure effective performance of assigned tasks as per client’s requests
•Maintain contact with clients to obtain feedback and encourage continued patronage.
•Responsible for Corporate and Travel Agent Room Sales for the hotel.
•Update action plans and financial objectives quarterly.
•Identify new markets and business opportunities and increase sales.
•Represent the Hotel at various events, trade shows and exhibitions.
•Implement all sales action plans related to market areas as outlined in the marketing plan.
•Conducts daily sales calls and arrange site inspection trips to the hotel for corporate clients.
•Able to provide quick and timely responses, immediate communication to the properties, develop professional long term business relationships.
•Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g. CVGR, generating proposal, Corporate Rate Application letter, writing contract, customer correspondence).
•Work closely with Front Office Manager to ensure proposed rate negotiations meet the financial needs of the hotels.
•Develop strong relationships with front office team to ensure working in unity and always striving to achieve the same goals.
•Accompany sales team on sales calls to potential clients to assist in development of the account and to access the effectiveness and sales skills of the salesperson
•Undertake any other duties as assigned by the respective Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
a) Professional Qualification:

•Grade 12 certificate
•Bachelor’s degree and/or professional Qualifications in relevant field
•Professional Membership

b) Work Experience:
•Minimum of 8 years work experience in management or similar position

c)Skill Specifications:
•Persuasive Skill to convince potential clients to subscribe to hotel services
•Customer Service Skill to courteously interact with customers and ensure their needs and requirements are met
•Leadership Skill in coordinating and managing hotel human resources to ensure smooth operations and maximum profit
