JOB DETAILS:
Purpose Of The Role:
• To manage the execution of the smelter project to ensure completion within the time and cost limit and to the agreed specifications and safety standards. The scope includes general project infrastructure, including earthworks, piling, roads, drainage, sewerage, general service buildings, security and IT. As well as all utilities, including water systems, oxygen, nitrogen, compressed air, steam, turbines, power reticulation, common pipe network and Slag processing plant, including slag hauling, cooling, crushing, milling and flotation. The incumbent leads consultants, specialists, suppliers and contractors involved in the project planning, design, procurement and execution to ensure successful completion and also deals with the Operations Team for design input and operational handover/readiness.

Qualifications and experience
• Eng ; Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil – PrEng
Project Management Diploma or PMP
10-15 years of project management experience and 5 – 10 years of specialist technical experience with Civil works, utilities and slag processing plants – preferably in a smelter environment Proficiency in dealing with multi-cultural teams – especially Chinese.
Excellent track record and similar experience in African countries highly advantageous.
Proficiency in English essential, French and Mandarin are beneficial
Smelter experience
Experience executing projects in the DRC
Civil works, utilities and slag processing plant
Experience across different construction disciplines
Senior Project management level
Advising, Selling technical designs
Dealing with EPCMs

Responsibilities
• Drive, coordinate and manage the overall smelter project execution
• Manage the Project area scope, quality, budget and schedule from concept to commissioning and hand-over
• Manage and oversee Consultants, suppliers and contractors
• Establish and manage design reviews
• Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
• Stakeholder management: Ensure optimised customer experience and service throughout the value chain
Drive relationships with stakeholders to enable optimisation of the business value chain
• Manage the project budget as per Delegation of Authority Matrix
• Manage Reporting and Governance for the area of responsibility
Health and safety management
• Manage Reporting and Governance for the area of responsibility
