Job Description
The Kibali Gold Mines Team is seeking to recruit a Senior Underground Mine Foreman to join and grow their team.
We are looking for candidates who will challenge the workforce to perform their daily accountabilities and support conventional career development plans. They will demonstrate problem solving and analytical competencies drawing on their numerous years leading multi-disciplinary teams in the underground hard-rock domain.
You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.
About Kibali
The Kibali gold mine is located in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), approximately 220 kilometers east of the capital of the Haut Uele province, Isiro, 150 kilometers west of the Ugandan border town of Arua and 1,800 kilometers from the Kenyan port of Mombasa.
Responsibilities
• Effective leadership of the Mining Team, including context setting, task assignment, performance monitoring, coaching and performance review.
• Coordinate all aspect of development and production activity including liaison with the Underground Mine Manager, Electrical, Maintenance, Mining Superintendents, team members and others to achieve role purpose.
• Safe and efficient production of Short Term planned development and ore from underground mine/s.
• Optimize and efficient utilization of mining operations plant, equipment, consumables, and other resources.
• Development and implementation of best practice mine development and production systems.
• Ensuring activities are aligned with production forecasts and budgets.
• Communicate with the Shift Supervisor, crew and technical staff on plans and issues.
• Identify, set, and achieve production priorities in line with mine schedules.
• Completion of any specific or special tasks assigned on time, to the standards and quality required and within budget.
• Safe work behaviour, with regard for the health and safety of others including:
o Implementation and compliance with all Health, Safety and Environment policies and systems.
o Involvement in safety activities (safety and toolbox meetings, PTO’s, hazard reporting, emergency response training).
• Identify and develop national underground workforce
Qualification and Skills Requirements
• Statutory Qualifications for Supervision (WA Shift Supervisory Competency) or equivalent
• Underground experience (10+ years in operational roles)
• Proven track record in operational performance management
• Effective operational planning and ability to ensure that the mining program meets or exceeds the required forecasts/budgets
• Ability to manage, lead and promote a safe, productive and cost-effective workforce
• Strong analytical and reasoning skills
• Positive, proactive attitude and work ethic
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship building skills
• Senior First Aid Certificate; and manual Driver’s License
Experience Needed
• Experience in designing technical course content
