Overall Job Purpose
• The Specialist, Business Support will be responsible for value optimization processes in the department by ensuring that activities are optimized in line with budgets and overall business objectives – and that they are carried out collaboratively in order to provide the highest possible value-for-money
Specific Position Responsibility
The Specialist, Business Support will be responsible for the following:
• Ensure data accuracy in physical and electronic site reports; for effective cost and budget allocation purposes
• Development and implementation of information management systems
• Work with section stakeholders to develop performance metrics and reporting processes
• Avail management and section heads with performance reports and prepare business review reports and presentations
• Spearhead the creation of Business Intelligence (BI) generating and reporting tools
• Schedule and facilitate periodic business reviews for OSD sections and the department
• Use BI insights from business reviews to liaise with management and section heads on process improvement approaches
• Work with operations teams to provide cost estimates for upcoming works
• Provide cost /production-related historical data during budgeting processes
• Hands-on input during budgeting processes for the department
• Formulate tracking tools for contractors involved in operational activities to ensure efficient resource mobilization, alignment to contract commitments, and demobilization
• Carry out periodic site checks to assess compliance to production efficiency and established reporting practices
• Any other duties as assigned

• Must be conversant with MS office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and ERP software (preferably Pronto)
• Must be familiar with business management processes
• Must have technical competence in construction, mining, or mechanical disciplines

Experience required to perform in this job
• At least 5 years’ experience in a construction, mining, mechanical or related environment – with exposure to administrative work
• Should have supervisory experience
• Should be able to develop and implement information management systems
• Previous work in a multi-disciplinary or highly collaborative environment
• Should have exposure to budgeting and/or cost management processes
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a construction, engineering, or business discipline
• A post-graduate qualification in a business-related field is an added advantage
• Professional affiliation(s) in line with the role are also desirable
