JOB DETAILS:
We are a co-educational International School is school with over 42 years of educating children from Early Years, Primary through to Sixth Form, with both day and boarding students. Our student population is over 400 students.
We are among the first group of the international schools to be established in Zambia. We are a high performing school that has an entrenched Cambridge Primary Programme and are seeking the services of a highly experienced Grade 4 Teacher with Cambridge Primary curriculum experience.
Job Purpose
• To plan, develop and deliver high quality lessons using a variety of approaches, to continually enhance teaching and learning.
• To monitor learners’ progress, keeping learners’ records that include assessment outcomes and targets set at regular intervals in line with school policy; to enable all learners to achieve their full potential.
• To maintain and build upon the teacher standards set in the Cambridge curriculum and the school.
• Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people with regard to Child Protection Procedures and enhance the philosophy that every child matters.
• To be an engaged member of the school faculty and carryout any other reasonable tasks requested by the Deputy Head.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and learning
• Manage student learning through effective teaching in accordance with the Department’s schemes of work and policies. Prepare the classroom for the pupils.
• Prepare all your lessons ahead of time. Friday is a half day of teaching to be used by the teachers to prepare their lessons for the following week. If you need additional time to prepare your lessons it should be done after school is dismissed or on your own time.
• Ensure continuity, progression and cohesiveness in all teaching.
• Use a variety of methods and approaches (including differentiation) to match curricular objectives and the range of student needs, and ensure equal opportunity for all students.
• Work with EAL/SEN staff and support staff; (including prior discussion and joint planning) in order to benefit from their specialist knowledge and to maximise their effectiveness within lessons.
• Support individual learning, inclusive of a register for the gifted and talented, by planning work with appropriate challenges and monitoring and reviewing learner outcomes regularly.
• Work within the Assessment for Learning Strategy, using clear and precise learning objectives and defining criteria for success for each lesson.
• Work effectively as a member of the Primary faculty to improve the quality of teaching and learning, by contributing to the Academic Improvement Plan and implementing and monitoring change.
• Implement new initiatives, by adapting classroom procedures accordingly, monitoring progress and reflecting on pedagogical outcomes.
• Set high expectations for all learners, to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to maximise their achievement.
• Use positive management of behaviour in an environment of mutual respect that allows learners to feel safe and secure and promote their self-esteem.
• Maintaining good order and discipline among learners under ones care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.
• Be in the classroom before 07:20 a.m., every morning, Monday through Friday.
• Develop and maintain good relationship with learners, parents, school community, and other stakeholders.
• Keep an accurate register of learners for each lesson.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting, and Accountability
• Be immediately responsible for the processes of identification, assessment, recording and reporting for the learners under your charge.
• Track learners’ progress by monitoring achievement against targets set and take appropriate action based on learners’ outcomes.
• Assess learners’ work systematically and use the results to inform future planning, teaching and curricular development.
• Contribute towards the implementation of the current SEN Code of Practice particularly the planning and recording of appropriate actions and outcomes related to set targets.
• Unexplained absences or patterns of absence should be reported immediately in accordance with the school policy.

Extra-Curricular Activities & Events
• Demonstrate a good active interest in coaching a wide range of extracurricular activities at primary level.
Qualifications:
• Diploma / degree with Qualified Teacher Status authenticated by the Teaching Council of Zambia.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably with Cambridge Primary curriculum.
• Registered with the Teaching Council of Zambia.
