JOB DETAILS:
Description:
• The camp manager is to manage the chongwe house business through the current structure and employee framework. The role includes the responsibility to and management of the employees, improvement and implementation of the offering in the camp, the development and maintenance of all operational standards, management of the assets and people through sound financial and governance principles and the collaboration and working through the time+tide management structure and support mechanism.

Leadership
• Manage the chongwe house business and lead by example. While responsible for the chongwe house operation, the manager is expected to be familiar with all disciplines of the operation, be approachable and to engage with all members of the company and representatives in all aspects of operations. The chongwe house manager will be expected to be able to represent the company in zambia as required.

Strategy
• Participate in the formulation of an annual strategy with the chongwe gm and leadership team and participate in drafting plans for implementation thereof.

Culture
• As a senior leader in the company, the chongwe house manager is expected to be a culture carrier for the business and brand. This involves living the values, being professional, aspirational, respecting all stakeholders and setting an example in the business.

Roles & responsibilities
Management of the service and offering in camp
(aligned to the time + tide strategy and standards)
• Management of the camp through defined standards
• Develop a service culture in all departments and aspects of the camp.
• Constantly improve the service and update standards in all aspects of the offering
• Participate and assist in maintaining and expanding on the time + tide chongwe house offering.
• Maintaining and improving on operational standards and procedures
• Always striving to exceeding expectations of the guests
• Introducing processes to continually develop the product and services offered through training plans and programs with the support of the time+tide service and standards manager
• Management and implementation of the time+tide and time + tide chongwe brands in camp and aspects of its operation

The management of the employees
• Management of all chongwe house employees
• Development of the organisational structure
• Appointment and administration of the employees through a clear hr policy and administrative system
• Attending to the employee welfare and development and meeting reasonable expectations
• Managing the business through the employees
• Development of a localization and training plan with the intention of growing employees in the business who show leadership and growth potential

System and budgetary control
• The management and overall responsibility of the financial controls in the business.
• Implement and management of the annual operational and capital expenditure budgets.
• Assist in the management of processes to drive revenue and manage costs in all aspects of the business, without impacting on the offering and service to the guests.

Sustainability, environmental and social programs
• Collaborate and engage with the time + tide sustainability department and time + tide foundation by assisting with the collective management of all programs related to the operations
• Manage the micro (our footprint) to macro (our research projects) aspects of our environmental practices – always sharing this with our employees and guests
• Develop an engagement process between the environmental and social initiatives driven through the foundation and the guests to include the conservation programs into the time + tide chongwe house offering.
• Continuously improve on the way in which we operate from an efficiency point of view and with respect to the environment.

Management and care of the assets
• Develop a standard and process to ensure the ongoing maintenance of all the chongwe house facilities: both front of house and back of house facilities and services equipment
• Understand the architectural and design integrity of the time+tide chongwe house facilities and maintain the concept and detail in this regard.
• Ensure both preventative and corrective maintenance schedules are developed and maintained for all areas, services and equipment.

Networking and building of relationships
• With the various time + tide business units and their support structures to time + tide chongwe house
• With the zambian community and government
• With zambian creditors and other stakeholders of the business

Structure and operational support
• The chongwe house manager will report to the chongwe general manager, who in turn reports to the time + tide coo. The operational structure of time + tide plays a supportive role to the chongwe house manager through the hr, maintenance, operations, service & standards, finance, safari, workshop, sustainability, foundation and procurement departments. The chongwe house manager will be required to be based and work at time + tide chongwe house.

Working hours
• Working 6 days per week with 1 day off per week. 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays (bank holidays may not be given on an actual day but can be taken at a later stage).

Requirements
• 5+ years’ experience working in a luxury hospitality establishment at camp management level.
• Proven track record of excelling at customer service and guest experience delivery.
