JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Trade Finance Specialist will handle designated product form renewals, amendments and variations not involving material structural changes, review of customer documentation. In this role, you will provide settlement support to the Transaction Management Team and provide business unit support by being the primary contact for reviewers and collaborate with structuring, tax, Legal, accounting with other subject matter authorities necessary to complete the approval process. Assist with training and an onboarding of new Team members.

Under the supervision of the International Banking and Trade Operations – Head the following are among the
Job Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise the day to day processing / delivery of all Trade Services products related to the Team with the primary purpose of meeting service standards and maximizing productivity of the team.
• Assist in implementing changes to internal standards and procedures in line with development in the business
• Maintain bank’s reputation as an expert in Trade Operations
• To protect both customers’ and Banks’ interests.
• To determine the appropriate course of action in resolving issues and authorizing transactions based on their impact.
• Liaise with internal customers and external customers on all Trade Services related issues/queries
• Verify and authorize all trade services transactions of the team, within delegated authorities and system release limits (wherever applicable
• Verify contents of a transaction to ensure that neither customer nor Bank is placed at risk.
• Meet turnaround times as per the Service Level Agreement & productivity standards.
• Monitor all transactions to ensure obligations / payments are duly met.
• Monitor and report to Foreign Payments Head all irregular items with a view to take corrective action for timely liquidation of such items.
• Comply with internal operating procedures as per Procedures Manual and other Policy
• Standards (UCP guidelines)
• Ensure that staff in the team are fully aware of the service delivery requirements and actively participate in achieving them.
• Ensure all charges are applied correctly and appropriate approvals are held for waivers.
• Participate in the training and development of Trade Services personnel to ensure operational excellence at all levels.
• Ensure smooth flow of documents to customers after pre-preparation and document examination is carried out
• Any other responsibilities or functions as maybe assigned by management

Qualifications And Experience
Education: Degree in accounting, Finance, business studies, economics or related fields,

Certifications: Discipline certifications: Trade Finance Certification will be an added advantage
• At least ordinary level school certificate with a minimum of credits in 5 subjects including English and Math’s.
• At least 5 to 8 years’ experience in similar position
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Knowledge of Banking is an added advantage
• Computer literacy with excellent proficiency in financial modeling tools
• Ability to interpret financial information
• Proven inter-personal management skills and leadership qualities
