PURPOSE
We are looking for a new intern to join the Protect The Pangolin Programme.
Since 2015 WCP has given support to Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife regarding the care, rehabilitation and release of pangolins confiscated by the department from illegal traffickers. The WCP-DNPW Pangolin Rehabilitation Centre is the only one of its kind in Zambia. Here pangolins rescued for the illegal trade are given medical and physical care until they are well enough to return back into the wild. Highly trained staff provide round-the-clock care to pangolins that arrive with varying degrees of illness and injury. A pangolin-first approach is taken to ensure success in rehabilitation, ultimately leading to the pangolin’s reintegration into the wild.
Through its internship programme, WCP will allow a Zambian graduate to join the organisation and learn more about the conservation sector throughout the country.
INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES
1. This internship aims to offer a unique learning experience to students or recent graduates.
2. The intern will gain a broad range of relevant clinical experiences with pangolins as well as hands-on experience working with endangered species to complement academic knowledge and skills.
3. The internship will increase appreciation and knowledge of wildlife conservation and its intricate management dynamics and allow for the gaining of management skills through various assignments.
