JOB DETAILS:
1.0 Field Officer (01): Mumbwa District
PFF is implementing a Skills Training Empowerment Project for Inmates (STEP-IN) in Mumbwa District supported, by Tools for Self Reliance (TFSR) aimed at increasing income opportunities for inmates/ex-inmates. This pilot project is to be implemented in 12 months. In this regard, PFF is seeking dynamic and compassionate Field Officer to coordinate vocational trades training at Mumbwa Correctional Centre and manage post-release support for ex-inmates at Mumbwa Industrial Hub. This position requires a proactive individual committed to the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of ex-inmates into society.

Key Responsibilities:
Vocational Trades Coordination;
• Coordinate and supervise vocational training programs at Mumbwa Correctional Centre, ensuring that inmates acquire valuable skills for employment post-release.
• Work closely with trainers to ensure that curricula are relevant and aligned with TEVETA standards.
• Monitor the progress of trainees and provide additional support as needed.
Post-Release Support;
• Manage the transition of trained ex-inmates to Mumbwa industrial hub, ensuring they continue to develop their skills and gain work experience.
• Provide ongoing mentorship and support to ex-inmates as they reintegrate into the community and workforce.
Production Management and Marketing;
• Oversee production activities at the industrial hub, ensuring that products meet quality standards and production targets.
• Implement best practices in production management to enhance efficiency and output.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote furniture and metal fabrication products, including digital marketing, traditional advertising, and participation in trade shows and exhibitions.
Compliance and Safety;
• Ensure that all production and marketing activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Implement health and safety protocols in the production area to protect workers and prevent accidents.

Job Search Training;
• Develop and deliver job search training programs for ex-inmates, covering topics such as resume writing, interview skills, and job search strategies.
• Assist ex-inmates in identifying and applying for job opportunities, providing guidance throughout the process.
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Lessons;
• Provide Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education to ex-inmates, ensuring they have access to accurate and relevant information.
• Facilitate discussions and workshops on SRHR topics, promoting healthy behaviors and informed decision-making.
Community Sensitization;
• Organize and conduct community sensitization activities to raise awareness about the welfare of ex-inmates and the importance of their reintegration.
• Engage with community leaders, organizations, and the public to build support for ex-inmates and reduce stigma.
Stakeholder Engagement;
• Collaborate with correctional staff, industrial hub management, and community organizations to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and community impact

Reporting & Documentation;
• Prepare and submit regular reports on training progress, production outcomes, and community sensitization activities.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities, including trainee progress, production data, and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Relevant qualification in designing and Technology, metal fabrication and carpentry, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in vocational training, community development, or working with vulnerable populations, particularly in a correctional or rehabilitation setting.
• Strong understanding of TEVETA standards and best practices.
• Experience in production management and job search training is an added advantage.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and support for ex-inmates.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software.
