JOB DETAILS:
The Reformed Open Community Schools (ROCS) is a child focused process facilitator Organization that empowers communities to transform their schools for improved learner outcomes. ROCS is a recognized stakeholder in supporting vulnerable children to access quality education in rural and peri- urban areas of Zambia. By contributing to the wellbeing of the poor, ROCS strives, to show God’s love by working with, motivating and encouraging those in need to take lead in their own development.
ROCS is implementing a Save the Children project called Driving sustainable change for children’s rights (DSCCR) in Chipata district of Eastern Province and Mbala district of Northern Province.

The overall objective of the project is to create adequate space for girls and boys, women and men to participate and influence in national planning and implementation processes through community-based social accountability, public investment in children’s rights and holding government accountable to children’s rights.
ROCS will contribute to the above objective by ensuring children in the target 2 districts benefit from improved quality of service delivery in education, health and nutrition, child protection and social protection.
It is against this background that ROCS is looking for two (2) suitably qualified Zambians to fill up the vacancy of District Community Officer in the stated District. The DCOs will be based in the districts and will be responsible for effective planning, coordination implementing of all project activities.

The CDO is Expected to Among Others;
1. Work together with local CSOs, communities and children and children’s structures in the target district to hold government accountable to the delivery of social services (Health and Nutrition, Education, Child protection and Social protection) that benefit children.
2. Work with relevant stakeholders to facilitate improvement in health, social protection, education, child protection accountability and transparency mechanisms by working with community structures in the targeted districts.
3. Build and maintain links with strategic partners in all sectors of the project to ensure plans are aligned and integrated with the project priorities.
4. Facilitate for the effective involvement of key stakeholders and service providers in the delivery of the project goal.
5. Effectively plan and coordinate all DSCCR assignments.
6. Monitor the progress of the project and documenting lessons learnt.
7. Support communities and children in advocacy and policy related activities in order to influence improvements and access to quality in social service delivery for children.
8. Prepare activity, monthly and quarterly reports in a timely manner

Preferred Qualities:
• Young, vibrant and knowledgeable.
• Basic ICT Skills in Excel, Power point and Word
• Good report writing skills
• Facilitation & leadership skills
• Ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a team
• Work with minimum supervision while working responsibly
• Motorbike riding with a valid Class A rider’s license
All potential employees are expected to obtain police clearance prior to being employed.

Qualifications:
• Grade 12 certificate
• Diploma in Social Work/Community Development/Public Administration or any related field with demonstrable ability to mobilize and work with communities.
• At least 2 years’ experience working with a similar project.
