Position: Mechanic/Driver
Location: Lusaka

Objective:
Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, the Driver/Mechanic is responsible for fleet management for iDE Zambia. .

Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Routine service and maintenance of motor vehicle and bikes.
• Operate iDE Zambia vehicles in a safe and courteous manner and strictly obeys traffic rules at all times.
• Maintenance and ensure that all iDE Zambia motor vehicles/bikes are road worthy and in a presentable manner.
• Transport personnel and visitors to and from different destinations as required and adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
• Maintain accurate logs books and ensure all vehicle log sheets are updated on daily basis.
• Do safety checks and maintain vehicles in safe and clean operating condition including washing of vehicles.
• Daily checks of fuel, oil, transmission fluid and coolant levels and air pressure in tires.
• Report all vehicle safety problems and accidents promptly.
• Attending to breakdown vehicles and motor bikes in and out of town.
• Obtaining of quotations for motor vehicles/bikes spares and other quotations that maybe requested.
• Preparation of purchase requisition for vehicle repairs and maintenance costs.
• Preparation of monthly fuel, vehicle and maintenance reports.
• Filing of documents related to motor vehicles/bikes
• Assisting the Administrator with preparation of asset listing for motor vehicles/bikes • Perform other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and attributes:
• Grade 12 school Certificate.
• Diploma/Certificate in mechanics.
• Possess a valid driver’s license preferably class A, B and C1.
• At least five years of previous work experience as a mechanic driver.
• Experience with NGO is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of vehicle tracker.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft word and excel.
• Appreciable level in both spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to drive under difficult situations.
• Demonstrate accuracy in filling out paperwork.
• Ability to interact with employees with tact, courtesy and discretion.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision


Job Education Requirements: Diploma/Certificate in mechanics


Job Experience Requirements: At least five years


Work Hours: 8
