JOB DETAILS:
Nkonka Women in Agribusiness (NWAB) is an umbrella body that looks after the interests of small scale women and youth farmers across the agriculture value chain in Zambia. Our organization has recently undergone a significant transition from a limited company to a Non-Governmental organization (NGO). We are seeking an experienced Executive Director who is excited about building and shaping our organization’s systems and processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in laying the foundation for our growth and success in its quest to improve member responsiveness, service delivery, and advocacy. The organization hereby invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the position of Executive Director.
Executive Director
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for NWAB staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. She will initially develop deep knowledge of values, mission, membership, programs and operations of NWAB. In cooperation with the Board, core assignments will include developing NWAB’s strategic direction, service portfolio, resource base and partnership landscape.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Management:-
• Maintain and expand programmatic portfolio of NWAB.
• Evaluation of ongoing programs.
• Ensure consistent quality of finance and administration, strong fundraising, communication, and operational systems.
• Recommend and effect time lines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
• Actively engage NWAB’s Volunteers, Board members, Event committees, Trustees, Partnering Organizations, and Corporate partners.
• Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Governors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build Board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing operations.
• Lead, coach, develop, and retain NWAB’s high-performing senior management team.
• Ensure effective systems to track progress and scale operations.
Fundraising & Communications:
• Expand local revenue generation and fundraising activities to support programs and operations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of a sustainable fundraising strategy that includes major donors, grants, partnerships and other revenue generating activities.
• Deepen and refine all aspects of communication
• from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a strong brand.
• Leverage relationships and employ external presence to garner new opportunities.
• Operationalize and strengthen existing internal communication systems, rules and procedures, keeping relevant constituents of NWAB involved and engaged in decision
• making and implementation of policy and programs.
• Represent the organisation in key public forums, media appearance and at educational conferences and events.
• Build an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results.
Planning & New Business:
• Design expansion programs and complete the strategic business planning process for programs in existing and new markets.
• Begin to build partnerships in new markets, establish relationships with the funders and community leaders at each expansion site.
Qualifications
• The ED will be thoroughly committed to NWAB’s mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
Qualifications and Work Experience
(a) Bachelor Degree or higher level qualification in relevant field;
(b) At least 5 years post qualification work in senior management with experience in leading diverse teams, managing senior staff, and driving organisational change.
(c) Work experience relating to the agricultural sector
(d) Good knowledge of the Zambian political and civil society landscape
(e) Demonstrated success in fundraising, partner relations and developing sustainable revenue streams.(f) Ideally experience in working with women organizations

Specific requirements include:
• Must be a Zambian citizen.
• Preferably a woman between the ages of 35-45 years.
This is a part-time position, requiring 20 hours of work per spread over 5 days
