JOB DETAILS:
Role Purpose
• The Fundraising and Marketing Manager manages all external communications to encourage the acquisition and retention of donors, partners, volunteers, program participants, and other third parties. The role works across multiple platforms and manages a Social Media Volunteer to promote our work, fundraise and share our social impact. The Fundraising and Marketing Manager is responsible for content production across various channels, marketing materials, newsletters and project proposals to grow our database and increase revenue. The role will work very closely with the ED, volunteers and other members of the Chimfunshi Zambia team as well as the Fundraiser Manager of Chimfunshi Germany.

Core activities
• The Fundraising and Marketing Manager will work to develop marketing and fundraising strategies by keeping the wider organisational objectives and priorities in mind as well as identify grants, write proposals, and raise awareness of our work. You will oversee and support the execution of daily communications across multiple channels (e.g. social media, direct communications, web marketing, e-communications, print and media). He/She will be responsible for organising fundraising campaigns both online and in person, advocating for wildlife conservation and rehabilitation, identifying and engaging local and international companies in corporate social responsibility and assisting with the design of education outreach material.

The duties of the Fundraising and Marketing Manager:
– Maximising income generation (including income from the Gift Shop) by developing and delivering an effective fundraising and marketing strategy and implementation plan to existing and potential stakeholders;
– Increasing fundraising event participation;
– Increasing the visibility of the missions and activities of CWOT locally and internationally;
– Evaluating marketing and communication activities, building new partnerships and deepening existing sponsorship/patronage to maximise CWOT’s charity profile and increase fundraising success and build links with potential and existing supporters;
– Developing, implementing, and managing CWOT’s CRM database
– Working with the ED and Chimfunshi Germany to develop and draft online and direct mail campaigns as well as promoting fundraisers through digital media, social media, print and press advertising;
– Working to identify grants and write proposals to raise funds;
– Helping to envision, develop and create our campaigns and key events;
– Tracking, monitoring and evaluating the impact of fundraising communications, circulating relevant press cuttings to key staff and producing monthly statistics on coverage;
– Developing, implementing, and regulating marketing materials and communications that reflect and contribute to our organisational aim, vision, values and objectives;
– Research blogs/channels to identify collaborative opportunities;
– Managing a Social Media volunteer;
– Coordinating monthly e-newsletters and assisting with reporting if necessary;
– Delivering Public Relations plans, including developing messages, general copywriting, writing content for the website, liaising with journalists and sourcing media comments;
– Providing fundraising support and managing relationships with a wide range of our supporters;
– Contributing to the recruitment and management of celebrity and high-profile supporters, and acting as the departmental point of contact for celebrity supporters and agents;
– Being an ambassador for CWOT at any fundraising activity, event or function; and promoting CWOT’s aim and objectives continually through working practice.

Skills and Experience Needed
We are looking for a creative, motivated, enthusiastic individual who is eager to gain insight and experience in the charity sector in biodiversity conservation and animal well-being. As CWOT, we communicate with thousands of supporters: individuals, institutions, and local and international organisations.
– Minimum of 3 years experiences in a similar position
– Prior experience in completing formal funding proposals
– Experience and technical knowledge managing databases and websites
– Some background or education in marketing and communications and an understanding of social media trends
– Strong administrative and organizational skills, with an emphasis on time management and the ability to plan, organize and implement numerous projects simultaneously;
– Proficient in Social Media (FB, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, various document processing and database applications and querying;
– Motivation and enthusiasm for working on fundraising, grants and digital communications to promote CWOT’s mission and values;
– Self-starter
– An interest in the charity sector and fundraising;
– Creativity, entrepreneurial outlook and ability to develop high-quality marketing and fundraising strategies, including plans, materials and messages for all fundraising activities, to increase support for the CWOT;
– Motivation and passion to participate in and help a wildlife conservation programme;
– Conversant in, and enthusiastic about, using social media platforms, ideally in a workplace;
– Ability to work well on your own and as part of a team and under the supervision of Management;
– Ability to negotiate, organise, and supervise events both online and in person;
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills for developing in a multicultural environment in Africa;
– Excellent written, verbal, editing and communication skills, in English
– Ability to “sell” a cause successfully and an appreciation of the communication needs of charity fundraising.
– Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
