Tearfund in Rwanda is looking for a highly competent and experienced programme manager, to support the Rwanda Country Lead in managing existing programme portfolio and its planned expansion in line with Tearfund Country Strategy. The role involves managing, developing and supporting capacity development for staff and partners, as well as managing a significant and growing programme budget. The successful candidate will have experience of managing large multi-sectoral institutional donor-funded projects.
Tearfund also place great importance on recruiting a programme manager who has a practical commitment to Tearfund’s values, vision and mission when working alongside Tearfund’s partner organizations in the planning, implementation and monitoring of projects.
The role will scope, develop and implement a strategy to meet humanitarian needs through partner organisations with responsibility for project implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, delivering accountability and compliance commitments and supporting the collation of internal and external narrative and financial donor reports and the management of related staff in the team.
Excellent written and spoken skills in the English language is indispensable to this role and an advanced knowledge of French is essential. A university degree in a relevant sector of humanitarian/development work and proven experience in project management (including needs assessments, proposal development experience, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning) and people management are a prerequisite.
The candidate must also be able to travel within the country for work, with remote supervision to tight timeframes. Applicants must be committed to Tearfund’s Christian beliefs.
