Overview:
• ACDI/VOCA is currently implementing a five-year program entitled “Enterprise Development and Growth Enhanced (EDGE) Activity” in Zambia funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The aim of the Zambia EDGE Activity is to increase the profitability for agricultural small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by addressing their key investment constraints on access to finance, limited business management skills and technology, and access to markets, thereby increasing SMEs’ productivity and ability to create new jobs in Zambia.
• Pursuant to its mission, ACDI/VOCA is seeking experienced and talented professionals for the Project Assistant position. The position is based in Lusaka and will have two primary responsibilities: a) Coordinate and/or manage communication between EDGE, SMEs, young people and social inclusion and innovation stakeholders. b) Support other GYSI members and partners in the delivery of capacity building to SMEs through planning, coordination and delivery of meetings, roundtables, events, and activities related to GYSI for Agricultural SMEs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
• The Project Assistant is expected to provide a broad range of assistance, including but not limited to, Engage with young people involved in USAID EDGE’s youth placement program and overall job creations efforts, to give and receive feedback on the program, consolidate youth placement reports and share with the rest of the GYSI team members, under the guidance of the Director – Social inclusion and Innovation, participate in field visits and document best practices.
• Ensure all logistics are in place for the successful implementation of the youth placement program and other job creation related activities such as job fairs, coordinate Pause and Reflect sessions on EDGE’s youth placement program and inclusive HR activities, carry out administrative duties such as data sorting, organizing and sharing with the MEL team for input systems, keep track of consultants and partners work to ensure necessary documentation such as attendance registers and reports are generated and shared with the MEL team.
• Organize meetings, presentations, seminars, training, and other events and ensure that all participants are members are invited and well-informed, attend meetings as assigned by the Director – Social Inclusion and Innovation and record all the deliberations during the meeting, assist the Director – Social Inclusion and Innovation in drafting/writing letters and correspondence to all relevant bodies, business /partners, and ensure the communication is properly documented for referencing and ease of retrieval, other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qalifications:
Successful candidates will be initiative-taking, proactive team players with the right combination of talent, experience, drive, and a commitment to relational excellence.
1. Bachelor’s degree (Development Studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or other relevant fields), combined with relevant practical experience.
2. Preferably, a minimum of 2 years’ progressively responsible experience working in a similar position,
3. Good understanding of inclusion principles and experience working with young people.
4. Familiarity with Zambia’s agricultural sector and the typical businesses operating within.
5. Proven ability to manage deadlines, work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize workload, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Local language proficiency is an added advantage.
7. Experience with external communications with a variety of audiences, including minute taking, brief reports, formal letters, and invitations, etc.
8. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail); Management of online calendars, email lists, WhatsApp groups and phone trees.
9. Demonstrated potential/experience performing administrative or other client support functions, with tact and diplomacy.
10. Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including English language.
11. Familiarity with USG-funded programs and having worked for ACDI/VOCA is an added advantage.
