Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the finance function of the company by ensuring sound financial planning, effective controls, accurate reporting, and strategic insight. The Finance Manager will support operational decision-making by providing financial leadership and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning & Strategy
Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans in alignment with business objectives.
Provide financial insight and guidance to support business growth across the company’s diverse sectors.
2. Financial Reporting
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in accordance with principles of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).
Ensure timely reporting to internal stakeholders and external authorities.
3. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
Oversee bank relationships, optimize working capital, and manage debt and investment portfolios.
4. Cost Control & Analysis
Implement robust cost control mechanisms, particularly for project-based activities.
Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with tax, legal, and statutory requirements.
Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
6. Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop the finance team to build internal capacity and ensure strong performance.
Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Key Relationships:
Executive Management Team
Project Managers
External Auditors, Banks, and Regulatory Authorities
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Full professional qualification ACCA or CA Zambia.
Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, with at least 3 in a managerial role.
Experience in transportation, construction, mining, or agriculture sectors is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of project and cost accounting
Proficiency in accounting software
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities
High integrity and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
