Job Overview
Mika Group of Hotels is seeking an experienced and dedicated Management Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial management and support to the group, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, business acumen, and a proactive approach to financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
Provide variance analysis and explanations of deviations from budgets and forecasts.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost reduction and profit improvement.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the budgeting process for the hotels, working closely with senior management.
Prepare and maintain rolling forecasts.
Monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing proactive recommendations for corrective actions.
Cost Management & Control
Monitor and control operating costs and overheads in line with budgetary constraints.
Review and recommend cost-saving initiatives across the organization.
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for cost efficiency and profitability.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard the assets of the company.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial policies.
Assist in preparing for internal and external audits and implementing recommendations for improvements.
Financial Strategy & Decision Support
Provide financial insights to senior management and stakeholders to guide business decision-making.
Assist in financial modeling for investment and capital expenditure projects.
Support strategic planning initiatives with financial data and analysis.
Cash Flow Management
Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital.
Ensure that the business maintains optimal liquidity for day-to-day operations and growth.
Team Management & Development
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
Provide training on financial systems and reporting procedures.
Assist in developing staff capabilities to support the finance function effectively.
Qualifications & Requirements
Full ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or a related qualification.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Senior Accountant or Management Accountant in a reputable organization (preferably in the hospitality industry or similar sectors).
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Proven experience in financial analysis and providing management with strategic insights.
Excellent understanding of financial systems, with proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy and Timeliness of Financial Reports:
Ensure all management accounts and financial reports are prepared on time, with a high level of accuracy.
Budget Compliance:
Maintain operational costs within budget limits, achieving cost savings while maintaining service quality.
Cash Flow Management:
Achieve optimal cash flow, ensuring liquidity to meet operational needs.
Cost Control and Efficiency:
Achieve set cost-saving targets through efficient budgeting, procurement, and expense management.
Audit Compliance:
Successfully pass internal and external audits with minimal adjustments or corrections.
Financial Insight and Decision Support:
Provide strategic insights and financial advice that influence key business decisions and profitability.
Staff Development:
Demonstrate effective leadership and development of junior accounting staff, including successful training programs and staff retention.
