About Plan International
Plan International Zambia is an international Developmental and Humanitarian Non-governmental Organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Our main strategic goal in Zambia is to make significant contribution to ensure vulnerable and excluded adolescent girls reach their full potential.
Plan International Central Program Area is committed to improving the quality of education for children in Mwantaya and Shimbilo primary Schools which are located in the sponsored communities. The shortage of school desks negatively impacts the learning environment for the children, leading to:
– Reduced student concentration and engagement: Students without proper desks are forced to sit on the floor or share inadequate seating, leading to discomfort and difficulty in focusing on lessons.
– Compromised posture and potential health issues: Prolonged periods of sitting on the floor can lead to back pain and other musculoskeletal problems.
– Impaired learning outcomes: The lack of suitable learning spaces hinders students’ ability to write, read, and participate effectively in classroom activities.
– Reduced classroom capacity utilization: Limited desks can prevent the school from accommodating its full student population effectively.
– Damage to existing learning materials: Books and other materials are more likely to be damaged when students do not have proper desk space.
