Job opportunity – Accountant
By Life Connected (BLC) is a Zambian not-for-profit organization, registered as a Public Benefit Organization, that serves communities in designing and realizing sustainable food systems. Sustainable food systems, including water security, is a primary need for everybody and By Life Connected empowers communities to take the lead in realizing these needs. As a result, overall well-being of community members will increase, communities will be more resilient against climate change and other disruptors and unsustainable resource use can be alleviated.
In Livingstone By Life Connected works in both Mukuni and Simonga/Sinde communities and has several projects running, including:
· A 12 hectare regenerative, and communally run, farm in Mukuni and
· An Asset Based Community Development program in Simonga/Sinde.
By Life Connected is looking for an Accountant that can supervise the financial administration of the entire organization (Livingstone and Mumbwa areas). The accountant also needs to report to area/project managers and the communities we are working with on how much of the yearly budget is remaining.
This job opportunity is for a full-time function. Compensation for this job will be K7,000 (gross) leaving K6,130 (net) per month.

Essential requirements
For the position the desired candidates must meet the following requirements:
· Someone that values integrity and is honest, accountable and empathic. These are the characteristics of a good leader.
· Someone that has a certificate of being a chartered accountant with whatever institute and can take care of the following responsibilities:
o Updating the cashbook continuously
o Updating working budgets every week
o Keeping track of the physical and digital administration (retirement) of all transactions
o Presenting the monthly finances to area managers and founders of BLC
o Preparing the payroll and slips
o Preparing NAPSA, NHIMA and ZRA payments
o Writing yearly financial reports and statements
· Somone that is well versed in writing and speaking in English.
· Someone that lives (or can move to) Livingstone
· Someone that that can work full-time.
· Someone that is willing and able to work independently without much supervision.
· Someone that has great computer skills including proficiency with at least the internet and Microsoft Office.
· Someone that is willing to do fieldwork in rural areas.
Preferred requirements
· Someone that has strong interest in Community Development and Nature Conservation.
· Someone that owns a valid driver’s license
· Someone that has experience in working for a not-for-profit organization
