Accountant – Lusaka, Zambia
We from MPower Ventures, a pan-African venture backed start-up in the energy access area (www.mpower.africa), have launched our operations in Zambia in 2019. Since then, together with our partners, we have already supplied thousands of customers with our solar systems. Our products range from small solar lamps to solar home systems with matching appliances such as TVs, fans and refrigerators to large systems for SMEs. Our portfolio has recently been complemented with electric powered vehicles, making us one of the most innovative solar system providers in Zambia.
The company has been working on a new concept for rural electrification: the EnergyHub, a solar-powered business center that provides a range of services and is operated by entrepreneurs from the community. To increase our footprint in Zambia and grow our sales we are looking for an Savy and proficient Accountant to support our new projects and operations in Zambia.
The position is based in Lusaka.

Your responsibilities and tasks:
• Energy hubs accounting:
Get monthly income and expenditure reports for southern region hubs from Andrew
Receive weekly and monthly income reports from energy hubs operators in the northern region
Submit monthly remittance to ERB
Update the all income and expenditure energy hubs document
Dashboard
Responsible for all customers ensuring that all their accounts are up to date by reconciling on regular basis
Prepare and update receivable report
Send receivable report
General accounting
Responsible for the management of the momo account
Following up on receipts
Updating the sales and cash collections template
Account and Receipt reconciliation
Update and reconcile all bank accounts and momo document
Comment on the location of receipts
EEP project
Financial accounting and reporting duties
Manage invoices and payments
Prepare reports on project expenses

Your profile:
• You are graduate in Finance / Accounting with considerable work experience in financial accounting and taxation;
You are motivated, dynamic and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves to get things done;
You are eager to learn new things and have a deep desire to make an impactful career from the beginning of your professional journey;
You are familiar processing invoices, managing reconciliations, accounts receivables and payables;
You have experience with payroll calculations, salaries declarations and relationship with tax authorities;
You are accountable, you dare taking initiatives to make things better;
You are familiar with financial and accounting softwares and proficient using sheets for reports;
You can express yourself in English as well as French (not mandatory but an asset);
Strong passion for progression and are proud of your accomplishments;
You can work both independently and as part of a team.
