JOB DETAILS:
The Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company (LISWMC) was established following the enactment of the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act No. 20 of 2018 as an autonomous Solid Waste Management Utility in order to provide effective solid waste management services in the City of Lusaka and has taken over solid waste management functions from the Lusaka City Council.
The Company is responsible for the following functions:
i. Facilitate and provide solid waste services in order to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment;
ii. Manage solid waste infrastructure in order to ensure sound treatment and disposal;
iii. Enforce solid waste standards in order to ensure compliance and enhance provision of quality services;
iv. Facilitate private sector participation in the development and provision of solid waste management in order to ensure accessible, sufficient and affordable services;
v. Manage corporate affairs and consumer services in order to enhance smooth operations of the institution;
vi. Manage financial and other resources in order to ensure their prudent utilisation and accountability; and
vii. Manage the provision of independent assurance on the institution’s risk management and governance in order to ensure the effectiveness of internal control systems.
In its quest to inspire mindset change towards solid waste management and provide the above listed services, LISWMC is looking for suitably qualified, creative and self-driven individuals to join the Company on the under listed positions to be based in Lusaka City;
19. JOB TITLE: Accountant - (01 Position)
JOB PURPOSE
To supervise the mobilization of financial resources in order to finance the operations and prudently manage the disbursement of financial resources in order to enhance operations of the company.
REPORTS TO: Manager - Finance
Main Duties and Accountabilities (Without Limitation)
Supervises effectively and efficiently the collection and banking of all revenues due to the Company in order to finance its operations.
Performs daily and monthly the reconciliation of Account receivables, funds collections and returns.
Manages effectively the preparation of annual company budgets in collaboration with other sections for consolidation into an overall revenue and expenditure budget.
Undertakes regularly spot checks to ensure that revenue collected has been banked, accountable documents have been filed accordingly and revenue entries have been posted correctly.
Coordinates with the income generating units for purposes of ensuring correct recording of income realized through receipting and timely invoicing.
Supervisors timely and effectively the debt collections and management in order to reduce the risk of bad debts by updating and maintaining the Outstanding Returns Age Analysis.
Ensures the continuous implementation of cost projections and on a timely basis provide cost analysis of specific activities.
Ensures that all contractual payments for services are tracked and monitored including timely payment of tipping and other fees by clients.
Undertakes the development and implementation of new/revised accounting policies procedures and internal controls.
Processes monthly payroll and statutory submissions.
Supervises effectively the disbursements of funds in order to facilitate the operations of the company.
REQUIREMENTS
Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia or equivalent.
Registered member of ZICA
At least 3 years’ relevant work experience.
Able to write technical and analytical reports
Able to communicate effectively in English

REMUNERATION PACKAGE
The successful candidates shall be offered a Fixed Term Contract or permanent and pensionable position (depending on the position) with an attractive salary and benefits package corresponding with the provision of the Conditions of Service of LISWMC.
