AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION SERVICES OFFICER II
The job holder is responsible for managing operations of the dynamic Aeronautical Information Management (AIM), Flight Planning, NOTAM, Briefing services and Aeronautical Information Management/Aeronautical Message Handling System (AIMS/AMHS) in accordance with company policy and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices which will meet and satisfy all reasonable clients’ requirements.
Key Performance Areas
- Conformance to ICAO, national and SOPs in order to facilitate for safety and quality in management of operations that better serves the expectations of customers.
- Collects and collates aeronautical data and/or information for the development and amendment of AIS publications.
- Make sure that the International NOTAM office obtain information to meet the need for pre-flight information service and in-flight information service.
- Regular review/update of relevant QMS procedures and raise CAR if necessary.
- Review and recommend updates to Services Level Agreements related to Aerodrome reporting Office.
- Verifies and authenticates the data inputted into the system.
- Codes and formats the data for acceptability into the AIS system.
- Checks the currency, completeness, and accuracy of aeronautical data and/or information.
- Supervise the provision of Pre-flight Information Bulletin.
- Provides OJT to new entrants.
- Providing timely and necessary data/information to pilots/representative and ground organizations so as to ensure safe operations.
- Ensure maintenance and filing of documents as per QMS requirements.
- Implement new amended ICAO SARPs affecting Aeronautical Information Services.
- Adhere corrective measures, standards, documentation, and systems are compliant with requirements.
- Attend to Aeronautical data audits to ensure maximum aeronautical data quality and compliance with international standards with specific reference to NOTAM.
- Adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) between ANS, APS and other clients.
- Originating messages for delays, cancellations, modifications, diversions, or any other flight safety messages concerning flights operating into and out of Zambian airports.
- Updating Aeronautical Database in line with the Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control (AIRAC) date; incorporating the new data into our publications every three to six months.
- Compilation and dissemination of NOTAM checklists.
- Provide requisite guidance, direction, and instructions to subordinates to achieve high standards of performance, ensure adherence to IACO standards in their day-to-day work.
- Monitors the performance of all telecommunication equipment and liaise with Avionics on the repair work and maintenance.
- Keeping notices to airmen (NOTAM) records, self-briefing cards, and NOTAM boards up to date at all times.
- Amendments of ICAO documents, AIP Zambia, and AIPs from other foreign states; and ensure their update and security.
- Ensure maintenance and filing of documents as per QMS requirements.
- Updating, AIP Zambia, and AIPs from other foreign states with latest amendments; and ensure their security.
- Ensure continuous ICAO, national and organisational regulatory compliance.
- Review sectional quality and safety processes for efficiency and effectiveness and recommend for change or amend when necessary.
- Ensure that quality control is carried out through the whole process of PIB device delivery.
- Monitor industry for safety concerns that relate to NOTAM or that could affect the provision in order to facilitate improvement of safety and quality for the dissemination of NOTAM that better serves the expectations of customers.
- Adhere to service level agreements (SLA’s).
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualification
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (5) credits which must include English, Geography and Mathematics.
- Certificate in Basic Aeronautical Information Services or Certificate in ATC Aerodrome.
- Degree in a related field such as IT, IMIS, Geographical Information System, computer science as an added advantage
Competences
- Working knowledge of ZCARs and ICAO SARPs
- Certificate in AIXM
- Certificate in QMS
- Certificate in SMS
- Certificate in Human factors
