Job description:
Purpose
• To safely execute maintenance work according to the prescribed standards while ensuring the safety of self and others.

Key Responsibilities
• The holder of this position will be required to assist the Artisan, Fitter adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Assist in cutting, threading, and hammering pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
• Assist to assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
• Assist with attaching pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
• Assist in measuring and marking pipes for cutting and threading.
• Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
• Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools.
• Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor.

Qualifications
• Minimum of a Grade Ten (Grade 12)
• Craft Certificate In Mechanical Fitting Or Equivalent
• Experience
• 2 years experience in working as a Fitter will be a plus
