About PACRA
The Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI), established under the Patents and Companies Registration Agency Act No. 4 of 2020. PACRA's primary mandate is to provide business and intellectual property registration services and manage the Collateral Registry for movable property and the accreditation of insolvency practitioners.
To enhance service delivery, PACRA is seeking a results-driven, self-motivated, and experienced individual to join its Intellectual Property Department as an Assistant Examiner – Trademarks.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Examiner – Trademarks will conduct searches on trademarks, ensure compliance with post-registration procedures, and maintain accurate records to support the validity and renewals of registered trademarks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Mark Searches:
o Conduct accurate searches on post-registered trademarks to facilitate renewals and other changes.
2. Inspection of Applications:
o Inspect successfully registered trademarks regularly to ensure compliance with post-registration procedures.
3. Registers of Marks:
o Maintain an up-to-date and accurate register of trademarks for easy retrieval and decision-making.
4. Records of Advertised Details and Statutes:
o Record journal details and legal statutes into the trademark registers and folders to support informed decisions.
5. Data Capturing:
o Accurately capture trademark application and registration data on IPAS (Intellectual Property Administration System) to facilitate efficient data retrieval for users.
6. Patents and Trademarks Journal:
o Prepare accurate data on post-registered trademarks for publication in the Journal.
7. Filing:
o Ensure timely filing and safe storage of service mark files for quick retrieval.
8. Other Duties:
o Perform additional duties as reasonably requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills Required
Education:
• Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or its equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, or Intellectual Property.
Skills and Attributes:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills.
• High level of computer literacy.
• Sober and courteous character.
• Innovative and results-oriented.
