JOB DETAILS:
The Boiler Operator will monitor boiler systems, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
• Monitoring steam boilers and safety devices
• Adjusting boiler controls
• Performing routine maintenance of Boilers
• Following correct boiler operation procedures/established procedures
• Maintaining boiler plant equipment/maintaining high-pressure boilers
• Reading pressure gauges
• Ensuring boilers are operating efficiently
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of mechanical equipment and mechanical maintenance
• Adjusting gas controls on natural gas systems
• Replacing worn or damaged boiler system and piping system components, such as defective valves
• Using safety equipment/following safety procedures
• Fault-finding in electrical systems, mechanical systems, and heating systems
• Connecting boiler feed water
• Overseeing boiler plant operations and boiler rooms
• Working in physically demanding environments
• Troubleshoot problems and make necessary repairs
• Performing regular inspections of ash arresters
• Maintaining accurate records
• Spotting potential issues
• Performing any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements and skills
• Grade 12 Certificate
• A Certificate in Boiler Operation is a requirement
• 2 years and above work experience in the meat processing industry
• Should be able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings
• Proficiency with computers and software programs used for monitoring and controlling the plant boiler.
