Job description:
Purpose
To ensure total compliance of the laboratory with good laboratory practice (GLP) in the absence of ISO accreditation.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensuring satisfactory availability of sampling, preparation and analysis equipment.
• Validation of calibrations for measuring equipment (AAS, ICP-OES, Spark OES, LECO Sulphur analyzer and balances)
• Investigating and reporting of anomalous results and trends.
• Ensuring availability of laboratory consumables.
• Implementation and maintenance of the laboratory quality system.
• Safety and health for the crew members.

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry

Experience
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a mining laboratory or related field
Skills

• Must be computer literate
• Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
• Must be able to operate computer controlled AAS, ICP-OES, LECO Sulphur analyzer and Spark OES
• Valid driver’s license
• Fire assay
• ISO17025
• Supervisory skills are a necessity for this role, as are good interpersonal and communication skills.
