JOB DETAILS:
• Job Purpose
The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the overall direction, policy implementation and performance of the Company within the stated policies and guidelines provided by the Board of Director. Working with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare the organization’s annual budgets, analyses the risk of its investments and advise the board of directors on the risk and return of the investments. Cultivate a strong and transparent relationship with the Board of Directors and its Committees to meet the obligations and effective governance of the organization as defined in the enabling legislation. Establish and direct the organization’s annual strategic agenda; coordinate the development of new initiatives.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
• As guided by the Board, lead the organization to develop a strategic plan including articulating the vision of the Company and overall strategic direction given the expectations of the policy holders and shareholders.
• Lead, direct and control the company’s operations in line with its mission and short, medium and long term strategic goals.
• Create and maintain a cohesive and motivated team for the sustained achievement of the Company’s strategic plan.
• Prepare timely concise, relevant and orderly reports presented in formats which enable Directors understand issues and contribute fully to the progress of the business.
• Soliciting advice and guidance, when appropriate, from a Board of Directors
• Formulating and implementing the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business or organization.
• Evaluating the success of the organization in reaching its goals
• Ensure all business actives and plans comply with approved Company policies and legislative requirement.
• Ensure the development of and maintenance of efficient budgetary and financial management structures.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of sound investment, underwriting, reserve and accounting policies and practices in line with Board requirement.
• Efficiently manage stakeholder issues i.e. clients, staff, agents, brokers, regulatory authorizes, government, the public and suppliers
• Exercise the powers and duties generally exercised by a Managing Director as shall be directed and/or delegated to job holder by the Board.
• Representing the organization for civic and professional association responsibilities and activities in the local community, the state, and at the national level.
• Participating in industry-related events or associations that will enhance the CEO’s leadership skills, the organization’s reputation, and the organization’s potential for success.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Insurance or Finance or any Business related discipline
• Masters of Business Administration or its equivalent
• Must have a minimum ten (10) years’ work experience in a reputable Insurance Company
• Vast experience in General Insurance products and services will be a plus
• Chartered Insurance Institute Certified
• Must be energetic, creative and determined
• Must be well versed with the Insurance Act
• Must fully meet the Regulatory requirements
• Must be a member of a relevant professional body (i.e. PIA, IIZA)
