JOB DETAILS:
Palabana University is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer for the University.

A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at a university is responsible for overseeing the financial management, planning, and strategy to align with institutional goals. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, their key duties include managing budgets, developing financial strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.

This role involves not only coordinating financial activities but also guiding senior management on financial matters, establishing internal controls, and preparing detailed financial reports for the university’s council and regulatory authorities.

Some specific responsibilities include:
Leading the development and implementation of the university’s budget and strategic financial plans. Evaluating financial performance, recommending cost efficiencies, and identifying revenue opportunities.
Overseeing financial reporting, risk management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Providing strategic financial leadership to ensure optimal use of resources and effective cash flow management.
Supervising finance teams, ensuring professional development and departmental performance aligned with institutional objectives.
The position requires a Master’s degree in finance or a related field, membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA), and at least 10 years of senior financial management experience.

Qualifications and Experience:
i. Chartered Accountant and member of ZICA
ii. Bachelor of Accountancy, or Full ACCA, CIMA, and or CA Zambia
iii. A Master of Science in Accounting and Finance or a Master of Business Administration is an added advantage.
iv. 10 years proven experience as a Chief Financial Officer or senior finance executive in a dynamic and growth-oriented organization.
v. Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking capabilities.
vi. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
vii. Experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
viii. Knowledge of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
ix. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and drive organizational change.
