JOB DETAILS:
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Civil Supervisor – Civil Engineering – FS (Fixed Term) to join the versatile Civil Engineering Department under Mineral Resources Management – FS Section. Reporting to the Projects Coordinator – Engineering – FS, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects to ensure efficient, safe, and budget-conscious execution. The role will require providing leadership, strategic direction, and implementing systems to streamline project workflows and optimize resource utilization.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Supervise and manage construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, labourers, and equipment to optimize productivity and efficiency.
• Monitor project progress and performance against established milestones and budgets, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to track progress and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Prepare accurate project budgets, monitor expenses, and control costs to ensure projects remain within budget constraints.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Oversee the procurement, delivery, and inventory management of construction materials and supplies.
• Evaluate and select suppliers and vendors based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet project requirements and deadlines.
• Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets company standards and client expectations.
• Implement and enforce quality control procedures to identify and resolve defects or deficiencies promptly.
• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies on-site.
• Conduct safety inspections and training sessions to promote a safe and secure work environment for all employees.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Grade 12 certificate
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil engineering or construction supervision.
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering construction projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Proficiency in CAD software and MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera, or other project management software.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to subordinates.
