Young African Women in Leadership (YAWL) is looking for Communication and Media Intern, who will support the communication and media department by assisting in the creation, development, and execution of communication strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain experience in the non-profit sector and develop their skills in media relations, social media management, and content creation.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management:
1. Assist in creating engaging content for the organization’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
2. Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media channels.
3. Assist in analyzing social media metrics and preparing reports on performance.
Content Creation:
1. Help in writing and editing blog posts, newsletters, and website content.
2. Assist in creating visual content (images, infographics, videos) for communication materials.
3. Support the production of multimedia content for campaigns and outreach programs.
4. Support in organizing media events and interviews.
5. Development of brochures, leaflets, fliers and programme briefs.
Research and Analysis:
1. Conduct research on trends in communications, media, and relevant issues affecting the NGO’s work.
2. Assist in gathering data on the effectiveness of communication efforts.
3. Assist in organizing and managing communication materials and files.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. A student in Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
2. Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
3. Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems.
4. Basic knowledge of graphic design software is an advantage.
5. Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
6. passion for social causes and the work of NGOs.
7. Basic IT skills and knowledge on Web design
8. Should have a laptop.
