JOB DETAILS:
In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing business environment on the other, we are seeking highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant positions:

24.0 ECONOMIST, REVENUE POLICY - GRADE ZRA05 (1 POSITION) RCS DEPARTMENT

A. PURPOSE
Reporting directly to the Senior Economist- Revenue Policy and Co-ordination, the job holder will be responsible for monitoring, managing and maintaining economic and tax revenue statistics for the Research and Policy Department in order to inform the optimisation and sustenance of the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) tax revenue collections and ensuring that revenue performance reports are drafted in a timely manner in order to inform decision making by Senior Management.

B. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Analysing daily, monthly, quarterly and annual performance of tax revenue as well as the performance of domestic and external macroeconomic variables (including inflation, exchange rates, interest rates, industrial production index, metal prices, and oil prices, among others) and their effect on tax revenue in Zambia for purposes of drafting the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual revenue performance reports;
• Liaising with internal and external clients on what data to collect and how it should be gathered considering ethical and legislative considerations;
• designing experiments, trials or surveys to produce the required data; collecting and analysing the data;
• interpreting the data and making sure that the right decisions are made based on the results;
• Undertaking regular customs data validation runs to ensure that the data warehouse is up to date and accurate;
• Monitoring other types of data collected by the unit throughout its shelf-life;
• Undertaking basic statistical and econometric analysis and provide input in the reporting process including presenting results to senior management, government ministries and other stakeholders;
• Providing complete, accurate and consistent information to internal and external stakeholders; and
• Liaising with relevant government ministries, departments and agencies to ensure accurate capture and reporting of external statistics of interest to ZRA.

C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Grade Twelve School Certificate/General Certificate of Education Equivalent;
• University Degree in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering or Data/Actuarial Science only; and
• Minimum of three years (3) years relevant post qualifying work experience.
