Summary:
The work schedule for this position is:
• Full Time (40hours per week)

Duties
• Installs and repairs minor building plumbing systems and fixtures, concrete paving units and walkways, and wall assemblies and finishes, ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Responds to emergency calls during off-duty hours when there is an imminent threat to the safety of personnel or structural integrity.
• Addresses existing or potential problems and makes recommendations to ensure systems and equipment meet manufacturers’ operating parameters.
• Orders and stocks supply and replacement parts to ensure availability for future needs.
• Assists in developing and executing testing and inspection checklists to ensure quality work by contractors and staff.
• Contributes to the safety program managed by the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer.
• Performs preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, and troubleshooting minor plumbing systems and fixtures, welding equipment and supplies, safety equipment, concrete and masonry walls, floor and ceiling assemblies, and other items upon coordinating with other trades.
• Performs routine work lubricating machinery, changing filters, cleaning exhaust ventilation and supply ducts.
• Provides routine inspection on various systems and assemblies and prepares written reports on their condition in conformance with the reporting requirements of the Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Annual Facility Condition Survey and Annual Inspection Summary.
• Assists in developing and executing a comprehensive maintenance program for building assemblies, site features, equipment, and associated components.
• Records and compiles operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs, and reports.
• Assists in preparing documents for maintenance, repairs, and renovation, including soliciting and monitoring contractors.
• Escorts local contractors at post facilities when required.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:

EXPERIENCE
:
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of plumbing and commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical heating, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

• Maintenance and repair of standard plumbing methods and techniques including potable water and sewage systems, motor starters, thermostats, humidistats, variable frequency drive (VFD) motors and controllers, gravity dampers, sensors, furnaces, hydronic systems, hot water heaters and heat pumps, evaporators, and condensers.
• Minor component replacement of motors, valves, pumps, controls and recording instruments.
• Plumbing system testing procedures in control devices to monitor, diagnose faults, determine current operating capacity to the design requirements, all in accordance with host country regulations.
• Maintenance and repair using industry aligned techniques and procedures for the modification and fabrication of various types of metal and alloy parts and equipment by use of electric and gas welding processes.
• Maintenance and repair using industry aligned techniques and procedures involved in laying a variety of brick, block, stone, and concrete in the construction or repair of such items as partitions, walls, walkways, and roadways.
• Reading and working from sketches, architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, one-line diagrams and material lists.

Education Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school is required and/or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the plumbing and general construction fields is required.

• Limited knowledge English; speaking, reading and writing
• Good Working Knowledge Bemba/Nyanja; speaking, reading and writing.

• Ability to identify problems or dangers, report issues and provide solution.
• Communication and interpersonal skills to answer queries from end-users.
• Ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure and a tight schedule.

• For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
• The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
