We are recruiting!
Our Client operating in Kitwe and Kalumbila is looking for a High Voltage Electrician – Earth Moving Equipment to join their team for a job vacancy within the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repair of Earth-Moving Equipment:
• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on high-voltage electrical systems for heavy mining equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, shovels, and dozers.
• Ensure the safe operation of electrical components, such as generators, motors, and wiring systems.
2. Electrical System Inspections:
• Conduct regular inspections of high-voltage systems in earth-moving equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
• Identify and address potential electrical hazards, wear, or damage in equipment wiring and components.
3. Troubleshooting Electrical Issues:
• Diagnose and resolve electrical problems in high-voltage systems, ensuring that equipment downtime is minimized.
• Use diagnostic tools and electrical schematics to locate faults in circuits and components.
1. Preventive Maintenance:
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for high-voltage systems to reduce equipment failure and prolong the lifespan of machinery.
• Document maintenance activities and recommend improvements to equipment performance.
2. Compliance with Safety Standards:
• Follow safety protocols related to high-voltage work in a mining environment, including proper grounding, insulation, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ensure all electrical work adheres to industry regulations and safety guidelines.
3. Collaboration with Mechanics and Operators:
• Work closely with heavy equipment mechanics and operators to ensure electrical systems are integrated properly with mechanical operations.
• Provide training and support on the safe use of high-voltage systems in earth-moving equipment.
4. Upgrades and Modifications:
• Assist in installing and upgrading electrical components in heavy mining equipment to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Work with engineering teams to modify systems to meet specific operational needs.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain detailed records of electrical system maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Provide reports on equipment performance and recommend improvements to minimize downtime.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Craft Certificate or Diploma in a related field.
• Proven experience as a High Voltage Electrician in the mining sector, with experience working on earth moving equipment.
• Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems in heavy machinery, including loaders, haul trucks, and excavators.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols in high-voltage environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be a member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
