JOB DETAILS:
In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing business environment on the other, we are seeking highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant positions:
31.0 ICT OFFICER- CORPORATE SYSTEMS SUPPORT–DBA& BCM ZRA06 (01 POSITION)- ICT DEPARTMENT
A. PURPOSE
Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Officer - Corporate Systems Support–DBA& BCM, the job holder will be responsible for planning, designing and managing of database structures, handling troubleshooting of data corruption, Data Storage and backups, Managing Standby Databases and ensuring that procedures for data recovery are in place and up to date.
B. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Providing ICT services to the user base ensuring high level of availability;
• Involvement in the evaluation of new or modified software;
• Ensuring the integrity of all databases;
• Responsible for the designing, coding, implementing, usage and maintenance of databases in ZRA;
• Designing logical and physical databases to meet user requirements;
• Ensuring that the structure and placement of all data is understood and documented;
• Regular monitoring to review performance of databases;
• Performance Database tuning;
• Providing report, as necessary, to management;
• Ensuring data consistency between central and remote databases;
• Documenting all systems changes and incidents according to incident and enhancement standards and procedures;
• Implementing all data security levels as stated in the ICT security standard manual for all user data in ZRA systems;
• Ensuring that system backups are valid, and that data restoration procedures and processes are adhered to and are up to date;
• Implementing and maintaining the databases at the BCP Site, making sure that they are synchronized with the production databases at every moment;
• Ensuring that recoveries from failures are carried out in a minimum of time, and with minimum loss of data;
• Ensuring that recovery procedures are documented and up to date;
• Maintaining up to date files or logs of all system changes and incidents at the standby Site;
• Maintaining up to date systems, procedure and user manuals;
• Implementing measures designed to safeguard the Information Technology and Management needs of the Authority in the event of major incidents or disasters;
• Ensuring that systems and databases at the standby environment are tested enhancements are implemented as prescribed to the satisfaction of all stake holders;
• Ensuring that system amendments are tested before installation at the standby environment and results confirmed by the users of the system; and
• Carrying out research on latest ICT trends in the world and providing advice and recommending direction on ICT matters.
C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or General Certificate of Education Equivalent;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Information Systems technology, electronics and telecommunications engineering/technology;
• Experience in administering Microsoft SQL server 2008 and above;
• Working Knowledge of ERPs i.e. SAP; and
• Minimum of two years relevant post qualifying experience in ICT as database administrator using Oracle; and
• Must be a member of ICTAZ or any other relevant professional body.
D. OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
• Must have knowledge of database development methods, techniques and requirements
• Good communicator, both written and oral
• Confident – a strong role model
• Very good sense of judgement
• High level of integrity
