AAZ works with marginalized and excluded women and young people, their organizations, and movements to address the structural causes of social injustice, gender inequality and poverty.

ActionAid Zambia has a vacancy for an experienced and suitably qualified Zambian to fill the position of YOUTH PARTICIPATION, CAMPAIGNS AND DIGITAL ADVOCACY INSPIRATOR.

LOCATION: Roving Inspirator
CONTRACT DURATION: Ten (10) Months.
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AREAS: Western, Southern, Northern and Eastern

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Inspirator will support Youth Participation, Campaigns and Digital Advocacy strengthening to ensure that AAZ and its partners are supported adequately. The Inspirator will be a Roving Inspirator supporting AAZ and Its partners implementing across the different strategic objectives of the SPA II Programme.

As a YOUTH CAMPAIGNS AND DIGITAL ADVOCACY INSPIRATOR for ActionAid Zambia and partners, the key performance roles would include but not limited to:

  • Support partner organizations in enhancing their capacities in youth participation, campaign development, and digital advocacy strategies.
  • Support AAZ and Its partner organizations in enhancing their capacities in three specific areas: youth participation, campaign development, and digital advocacy strategies.
  • Devise skills and knowledge to better engage young people, develop effective campaigns, and leverage digital technologies.
  • Support to influence policies and have youth voice in decision-making spaces.
  • The role aims to help partners achieve their organizational goals by enhancing their abilities in youth involvement, campaign development, and digital advocacy.
  • Amplify capacities of young people and enable them to have a greater impact on societal objectives.
  • Support to align with broader societal objectives, ensuring that partners contribute effectively to positive social change.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Specific duties of the YOUTH CAMPAIGNS AND DIGITAL ADVOCACY INSPIRATOR include and not limited to:

  • Documentation of lessons, best practices and challenges and implementation of actions to support the SPA II programme.
  • Provide crossing cutting capacity development strategies for young people across all units in Youth Participation, Campaigns and Digital Advocacy and provide tailor made and general capacity building on Youth Participation, Campaigns and Digital Advocacy.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance partners’ abilities to create engaging and impactful content for digital campaigns and conduct training sessions to provide partners with innovative strategies and techniques for digital campaigning and advocacy.
  • Create an online tool or platform to track policies relevant to youth participation and advocacy efforts and provide one-on-one mentorship in designing and branding strategies for various campaigns.
  • Educate partners on the legal aspects of cybersecurity relevant to their digital campaigning and advocacy efforts and assist partners in developing comprehensive branding guidelines and strategies for their campaigns.
  • Provide capacity in the development of effective advocacy and campaign strategies tailored to specific goals and target audiences.
  • Provide information and guidance on the various opportunities for youth participation in local decision-making and policy influencing.
  • Provide capacity in the development of strategies to protect the data of the campaign supporters and stakeholders and conduct capacity-building workshops and sessions to enhance partners’ understanding and skills in youth participation, campaigning, and digital advocacy.
  • Work closely with AAZ and Its partners to co-create comprehensive campaigns and digital advocacy strategies that align with their organizational goals and develop digital and offline tools to facilitate and enhance youth participation in campaigns and advocacy efforts.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILL

  • Experience in documenting lessons learnt, best practices, and challenges, and effectively communicate them to stakeholders of the project.
  • Experience in developing capacity-building strategies and delivering training sessions on youth participation, campaigns, and digital advocacy.
  • Proficiency in creating engaging and impactful content for digital campaigns, and knowledge in innovative strategies and techniques for digital campaigning and advocacy.
  • Experience in developing online tools or platforms to track policies relevant to youth participation and advocacy efforts.
  • Experience in providing one-on-one mentorship in designing and branding strategies for various campaigns.
  • Experience in legal aspects of cybersecurity relevant to digital campaigning and advocacy efforts.
  • Experience in developing effective advocacy and campaign strategies tailored to specific issues, goals, and target audiences.
  • Experience in co-creation of comprehensive campaigns and digital advocacy strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Experience of youth activism and passionate about youth-led activism.
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating or capturing learning for projects.
  • Experience in working and building Social Movements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in development studies, Mass Communications, or any relevant field from a recognized University.
  • Have at least 1 – 2 years’ experience and understanding of Creative Campaigns and Digital Advocacy
  • Experience in working effectively on climate justice and natural resource management.

OTHER COMPETENCES

  • Offer guidance and support to young individuals who have participated in trainings at the Global Platform, helping them apply their learning in practical settings.
  • Act as a mentor for young people involved in creative campaigning, offering advice and assistance to enhance the impact of their campaigns.
  • Provide support for learning and campaign activities coordinated by ActionAid or the Global Platform, contributing to the success of these initiatives.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing networks such as the Global Inspirator Learning network, sharing insights and experiences to enhance learning and collaboration.
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange initiatives between different countries, fostering learning and collaboration on youth participation, campaigns, and digital advocacy.
  • Engage in personal training and development opportunities, including induction courses and other relevant training programs, to enhance skills and knowledge in youth participation, campaigns, and digital advocacy.
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of organizational mission, vision, and lives by values of ActionAid .
