JOB DETAILS:
PATH is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technologist to support NOMADS work at the NMEC laboratory in Lusaka. The Laboratory technologist will support the NOMADS project’s sample collection and preparation for genomic sequencing.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Laboratory scientist in collecting and preparing samples by carrying out the following tasks.
• Support malaria sample collections from field sites and health facilities
• Record and scan sample information into digitized templates / spreadsheets.
• Perform microscope slide reading to confirm parasitaemia
• Extract DNA, perform PCRs, process gels.
• Store samples at appropriate temperatures and conditions.

Required skills and experience:
• Diploma in Lab science or Biomedical Sciences
• At least one (1) year relevant experience in a molecular science laboratory
• Must be computer literate
• Proven ability to keep records with an attention to detail
• Experience in malaria research a bonus

Experience in Months: 12

Level of Education: Postgraduate Degree
