Skills to Live Zambia is a locally registered organisation and affiliated to Young Africa International and is working to empower vulnerable youths with skills training for employability and entrepreneurship. Our programme integrates vocational skills with life skills education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship training, psychosocial support services and talent development in art and sport.
Skills to Live Zambia has the following positions to be filled. If you meet the qualifications and experience needed, please send your application before 17:00hrs on 23rd August 2024.

1. Job Title: Finance And Administration Graduate Intern (1)
Supervised By: Finance And Administration Officer
SUMMARY OF THE JOB: The Finance and Admin Intern is responsible for helping ensure the provision and the execution of programme finance services and the effective and transparent utilization of financial resources including the integrity of financial and administrative services.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or any related field.
• Knowledge of accounting packages such as Pastel Partner and Evolution.
• Knowledge of Payroll systems such as Belina
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
• Experience supporting finance and administration in the non-governmental sector and familiarity with donor regulations and administrative procedures.
• In-depth knowledge of humanitarian work.
• Be a team player.
• A valid and clean class B driver’s license is an added advantage.

Main Duties:
• Ensure implementation of effective internal controls, proper functioning of a financial resources management system, and the control mechanism for development projects as spelt in the organisational finance and other related policies.
• Make payments based on fully approved documents and present to management for review and signature. Ensuring internal procedures are followed before documents are processed by management.
• Proper control of the supporting documents for payments and financial reports to projects; Institution and preparation of payment vouchers.
• Prepare cash and bank payment vouchers and ensure that all transactions are properly and fully documented.
• Ensure timely retirement of project funds and in compliance with the finance policy
• Preparing employee timesheets monthly
• Assist in preparing for internal and external audits
• Capturing of transactions into the accounting package
• Preparation of bank reconciliations
• Provision of Administrative and logistical support
• Administrative Coordination of general travel logistics for the program team working with the Programs Manager, support to conferences, workshops and retreats.
• Support to office space arrangement, and relevant purchase of office furniture; Support to assets management and periodic physical assets verification.
• Support the maintenance of premises and common services, insurance, and management of document storage.
• Maintenance of files and records relevant to lease agreements and other contracts.
• Custodian for management of office stationery supplies including maintenance of a stock list of stationery, distribution of stationery as required by staff and keeping a log of distribution.
• Support to month-end and year-end closures.
• Coordination with petty cash custodians in project offices for timely completion of monthly petty cash reconciliation and replenishment.
• Support month-end and year-end closure through report preparation and submission including e.g., travel claim acquittals, petty cash reconciliation, review and monitoring of receipt accrual and payment voucher status. Assist in preparation of management accounts and project financial reports.
• Ensure all relevant documentation of asset movements and distributions is properly maintained.

2. Entreprenuership Trainer (2)
Job Title: Entrepreneurship Training officer
Reporting to: Business Development Officer

Position Summary:
The Entrepreneurship Training Officer is responsible for coordinating, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive entrepreneurship skills development program for students at Young Africa. Answering and reporting to the Programs Manager, He/she should understand the central concepts and methods of inquiry; using a variety of instructional strategies to encourage the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills; creating learning experiences that make content meaningful to all.
Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications:
• First degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from a recognized university.
• Minimum of Degree in Business Studies or Degree in Entrepreneurship Skills from a recognized institution or polytechnic will be an added advantage.
• Business/Entrepreneurship Counselling skills
• Certified Entrepreneurship Skills Trainer (preferably ILO or Ideialab)
• Teaching Qualification and experience will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 3 years proven active Entrepreneurship Training experience.

Responsibilities:
• Source out, arrange and facilitate training that will raise the capacity and increase the self-esteem and wellness of youth; providing activities that develop business and entrepreneurship skills; building capacity and independence in students.
• Preparation of a detailed implementation plan for the business development skills component with a monthly and weekly breakdown of activities.
• Lead in delivery of the course throughout the year.
• Evaluates training after every cohort to ensure that it meets required learning outcomes and prepares students for onward progression.
• Integration with programs and training teams for planning, implementation, and execution.
• Deliver entrepreneurship skills training as required, based on direction and curriculum developed/ adopted by Young Africa.
• Keep record of all required documents related to Entrepreneurship Skills training program, beneficiary selection, training, and post training evaluation.
• Coordinate with Business Development Officer, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer and Vocational Training Principal for parallel monitoring of activities as well as post training evaluation.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other organizations offering entrepreneurship training, SIYB, ILO and Ideialab entrepreneurship model for youth empowerment programs.
• Promotes integration and programme linkages for entrepreneurship activities across projects
• Participate in YA dissemination activities of its programmes and courses including developing interactional material as required.
• Build teams for outreach facilitation of entrepreneurship skills in consultation with the Programs coordinator to ensure that program activities are in line with set objectives.
• Establish and maintain contact and productive working relationships with community representatives, local and international organizations, beneficiaries, and employers as related to business entrepreneurship development.
• Work collaboratively with immediate supervisor and YA’s Finance and administration staff as required to process Purchase Requests (PR) for the entrepreneurship training component.
• Keep abreast of current national initiatives and activities, develop a network of resources and contacts to further expand the Entrepreneurship Skills program.
• Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize training to increase students’ participation.

Relationships
• Reports to Business Development Officer.
• Coordinates closely with individual Programs Manager, Business Development Officer and TEVET Principal.

3. Lifeskills Trainer (1)
Job Title: Life Skills Trainer
Reporting to: Programs Manager

Position Summary:
The Life skills officer is responsible for coordinating, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive wellness and personal development program for students at Young Africa. Answering to the Programs Manager, the Life Skills Officer is responsible for assisting youths build competencies which will allow them to live independently. The life skills Trainer should understand the central concepts and methods of inquiry; uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills; and creates learning experiences that make content meaningful to all students.

Minimum Requirements
• Minimum of a Diploma in Social Sciences from a recognized institution (Sociology/ Psychology/Social Work)
• Counselling skills
• Environmental health qualifications (added advantage)
• Nursing Certificate/Diploma (added advantage)
• Certified Life Skills Trainer (Young Africa certified)
• Teaching Qualification and experience will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in writing, reporting, and managing grants and seek out donations to support life skills training at YA.
• Establish and maintain contact and productive working relationships with community representatives, local and international organizations, beneficiaries, and employers as related to life skill development.
• Work collaboratively with immediate supervisor and YA’s Finance and administration staff as required to process Purchase Requests (PR) for life skills training component.
• Keep abreast of current national initiatives and activities, develop a network of resources and contacts to further expand the Life skill program.
• Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize training to increase students’ participation.

• Coordinates closely with individual SRHR Officer, Peer Counsellor and M&E Officer.

4. EMPLOYMENT OFFICER (1)
Job Title: Employment Officer (EO)
Reporting to: Business Development Officer

Position Summary:
The Employment Officer will play a key role in the Young Africa program by connecting young people who would have enrolled for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with relevant work placement opportunities. The Employment Officer will be responsible for building relationships with local employers and identifying suitable placements, as well as providing support and guidance to both youth and employers. This role requires excellent communication (physical and digital) and relationship-building skills, as well as a passion for helping young people find meaningful work and reach their full potential. The EO should be familiar with the challenges and opportunities for young people in finding work and be able to support them in developing the skills and confidence they need to succeed. The EO should be organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Minimum Requirements
• University degree in Development Studies, Human Resources or any other social science relevant degree.
• At least 3 years work experience in Youth Empowerment, life skills, entrepreneurship, TVET, ISALs and linking youths to industry to secure meaningful employment.
• Possess a clear understanding of contemporary development issues and trends in marketing and youth placement.
• Knowledge and experience with work readiness and industrial learning programmes.
• Excellent IT, Digital marketing, data consolidation and reporting skills.
• A member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management
• Clean driver’s license (class B) a must.

Responsibilities:
• Provide a personalised case management approach to advising students on career choices / pathways and actively progressing them through the relevant opportunities for training, internship, and employment.
• Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with employers, industry groups, training providers and apprenticeship support services that will facilitate students’ transition from training to employment.
• Link students and their career expectations with industry needs through study visits to workplaces, inviting guest speakers from relevant industries on campus to speak to students and work readiness skills programs.
• Establish and manage a work experience program for students, including the sourcing of opportunities, preparing students for opportunities, monitoring students while on internship and job placement and keeping all related records.
• Assist in marketing initiatives including information sessions, collation of good news stories and development of other promotional content and communication strategies.
• Support the Young Africa enrolment and new student orientation process.
• Work with the programs team to provide updates on internship students’ progress and outcomes.
• In collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation team, record relevant student information, including contacts, behaviours, and student activities in the Young Africa student management system, and produce reports on progress.
• Keep industry information, including legislation relevant to the vocational training, apprenticeship, and employment.
• In collaboration with technical trainers, monitor students in internships and job placements, arranging visits where required and managing the preparation, collection and storage of monitoring and evaluation records and data as required by Young Africa.
• Support graduates with employment contract negotiation, wellness and safeguarding related issues.
• Support in continuous reviewing of curricula to match industry standards.
• Support the organisation with human resources needs

5. Peer Counsellor (Wellness Assistant) (1)
Reports to: Wellness Nurse
Roles and Responsibilities
• Conduct screening of students at wellness space these include checking, vitals screening.
• Assist in conducting students’ mental health assessment screening.
• Assist in screening students for drug and alcohol assessment.
• Conduct pre-test and post-test counselling at the wellness space
• Conduct HIV-Testing and index testing and counselling.
• Conduct referrals for students who are sick to the partnering government clinic.
• Conduct Health promotion education and assist in life skills education with topics concerning SRH.
• Conduct sports and record attendance for sports activities
• Attend youth friendly meetings and other health promotion meetings at partnering government clinic.
• Organize outreaches and community mobilization and sensitizations of SRH programs with the organization and with the partnering government clinic.
• Collect and enter data in Excel and Kobo for the wellness space.
• Submit weekly reports to the organization and the partnering government clinic.
• Attend weekly update meetings.

Other Responsibilities
1. Organise and support weekly sports and assembly activities
2. Support in coordinating sports and arts festivals
Skills and qualifications Required
1. Excellent counselling skills
2. Experience in working in a health facility.
3. Good data management.
4. Diploma in Counselling, Psychosocial Counselling or health related course is preferred.
