JOB DETAILS:
Our client is looking for the following positions to work from North Western part of Zambia.
Metallurgist – Geometallurgy & Process Mineralogy
The primary purpose of this role is to translate and combine mineralogical, metallurgical and geological information of relevance to mining and processing for improved mine planning, ore control, operations and processing. He or she will utilise their expertise in Geology and Mineralogy to assess the variability of ore bodies and develop strategies to maximise resource recovery and minimise value mineral losses and operational costs. This role requires a combination of technical skills, analytical capabilities, and strong communication abilities to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and drive operational excellence.
Job responsibilities
• Supervise Mineralogy technicians and plan daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
• Conduct detailed mineralogical analyses of ore and process plant samples using various techniques such as optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and other advanced analytical methods.
• Interpretation of data and images in order to identify mineral phases, grain size distribution, liberation and mineral associations within the ore.
• Accountable for the management and operation of the mineralogy and geometallurgy laboratory
• Implement conventional and specialized approaches to generate high quality data and images from challenging sample materials
• Capture and analyse data using general software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and specialized systems such as Mineralogic
• Geometallurgical Modelling:
• Integrate geological, mineralogical, and metallurgical data to generate predictive models for ore behaviour during mining and processing.
• Sampling and QA/QC:
• Verify the accuracy and reliability of laboratory data and provide guidance on corrective actions when necessary.
• Conduction Bench scale Geometallurgical testwork (Comminution/ or Flotation)
• Reporting and Documentation:
• Prepare comprehensive reports, technical memos, and presentations summarising mineralogical findings, geometallurgical models, and optimisation recommendations.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders including management, technical teams, and external partners.

• Technical Support:
• Interpret mineralogical data in real-time to troubleshoot operational issues, optimise process performance, and address challenges related to ore variability.
• Training, Research and Development:
• Develop the Geometallurgy and Process Mineralogy Technicians’ capacity though structured training programs.
• Stay abreast of advancements in mineralogical and geometallurgical techniques, tools, and technologies.
• Conduct research studies and participate in industry collaborations to develop innovative solutions for improving resource characterisation and process optimisation.
• Assist in achieving the Laboratory production and consumables budget by:
• Complying with agreed sample workloads
• Closely monitoring the usage of consumables
• meeting turnaround times for results
• Innovation and creativity within the mineralogy laboratory, proposing ideas for workflow enhancements within the broader team;
• Liaise and engage with a variety of team members, internal and external clients regarding projects and workflows;
• Maintain a client-focused approach, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality project deliveries;
• Participate in metallurgical and geological surveys;
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Specialist in the section.

Experience
• Minimum 5 years working as a Mineralogist, Metallurgist or Production Geologist in large base metal operations.
• Proficiency in mineralogical and analytical techniques such as XRD, SEM, MLA and optical Microscopy.
• Previous experience in Mineralogy and Geometallurgy highly required.
• Excellent cognitive and analytical skills for identifying process shortfalls, bottlenecks and implementing systematic solutions.
• Excellent understanding of complex metallurgical information, process improvement, and control strategies for large-scale, continuous operating mineral processing plants.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to assemble data and provide clear and accurate operational performance reports in both an upward and downward direction.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Computer proficiency is essential.
Qualifications
• A Tertiary Qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Geometallurgy or Geology.
• Eligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), and to hold relevant legal appointment as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia
Belt Splicer
Provide the activities of maintenance, repairs and installation of all conveyor belt related works at the Sentinel mine site and belt repairs in the Rubber, Ceramic & Splicing workshop. This role will support the smooth running of the conveyor belts in order to achieve acceptable equipment availability at the Sentinel mines.
Specific tasks;
• To Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by the section Supervisor or Superintendent.
• To carry out online and offline PMs (preventive maintenance) on conveyor belts and report to the supervisor.
• To carry out new conveyor belt installation and conveyor belt change out
• To carry out plant shutdown jobs within our area of responsibility
• To carry out cold room splicing material auditing and report to the supervisor. • The position will be expected to positively impact and contribute to the performance of the company through individual activity.
• To carry out workshop conveyor belt repairs and rubber related works.
To carry out cold and hot repairs on conveyor belt.
Competences
• Ability to show initiative and have good interpersonal skills
• Experience with both hot and cold conveyor belt splicing
• Able to recognize the cause of damage to the conveyor belt and pulley lagging works found on routine inspections and report correctly.

• 1 – 2 Years’ experience in high output workshops with a high aptitude in splicing, ceramic & rubber initiatives required of today’s mining industry
• 1 – 3 Years’ experience in both ceramic pulley lagging and rubber repairs.
• 2 – 3 Years hands on skills and experience with large multi skill operations both ceramic & rubber being undertaken simultaneously within tight time restrictions exposure would be an advantage.
• Previous experience with chute and hopper relines in both ceramic & rubber would be well regarded.
• 2 – 3 Years demonstrable experience with fixed plant maintenance will be an advantage
Qualifications
• A minimum of the appropriate certification with experience in rubber & belt splicing repairs in fixed plant & workshop relining environments.
• Minimum grade 12 school certificate
• A craft certificate in cold and hot splice
• A trained and competent vulcanization machine technician and able to drive.
Rubber Liner
The position exists: To handle all Rubber lining activities both in the plant and in the RCS (Rubber, Ceramic and Splicing) workshop section in order to provide workshop support services to Sentinel Mine.
Specific Responsibilities
• To carry out online and offline PMs to all rubber lined areas and all pulley lagging
• To carry out rubber lining and pulley lagging
• To carry out rubber works during plant shutdowns
• To prepare all required rubber seals and gaskets.
• To measure and cut the required different size and shapes of rubber.
• To carry out all rubber activities within Kalumbila mine site.
• Follow laid down policies and procedures as out lined by management
• Enforce Compliance to work order attachments and documents such as JSA’s, Work Procedure’s, SWI’s, etc
• Ensure compliance with Safety and Environmental Management systems, policies and procedures along with ensuring that all risks have been identified, managed and safe working environment is maintained
• Enforce good housekeeping practices are maintained by enforcing cleaning up before, during and after every task and not leaving any hazards within the work place
• Have the ability to plan for tasks; arrange the correct equipment needed to minimize unnecessary delays in planned tasks
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned

• 2 – 3 Years’ experience in both pulley lagging and rubber lining repairs.
• 1 – 2 Years hands on skills and experience with large multi skill operations in ceramic, sandblasting, pulley lagging, belt splicing & rubber lining being undertaken simultaneously within tight time restrictions exposure would be an advantage.
• 2 – 3 Years previous experience with chute and hopper relines in both ceramic & wear cut applications would be well regarded.
• Demonstrable experience with fixed plant maintenance will be an advantage.
Qualifications
• A minimum of appropriate certification with experience in rubber and ceramic lining in the fixed plant & workshop relining environments.
• A certified working in confined space
• A trained and competent to use of all rubber lining tools and consumables.
• A minimum of Zambian craft certificate or its equivalent. Higher education attainment will be an added advantage
