Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company (NWSC) is a Commercial water utility providing quality
water and sanitation services to its customers in Kitwe, Kalulushi, Chambishi and Lufwanyama. In its quest
to improve service delivery, the Company seeks to employ suitable, highly motivated and goal-oriented
professionals to fill the following vacancy:

1. Meter Readers (X22): Part-Time Work For Three (03) Months
1.0 Job Purpose
To read residential, commercial, and industrial meters to generate and collect revenue for services
rendered to residents effectively and efficiently to meet Company objectives

2.0 Job Accountabilities
2.1 To read residential, commercial and industrial water meters for an assigned route to
ensure billing accuracy and customer satisfaction.
2.2 To record readings from all types of meters accurately and legibly into a handheld
device.
2.3 To record readings manually or with the use of computer software.
2.4 To investigate and resolve any discrepancies in meter readings.
2.5 To communicate with customers about their bills and answering questions regarding
billing procedures or concerns.
2.6 To communicate with customers regarding their account status, new services and
other general inquiries.
2.7 To capture and report all leaks on main lines and distribution lines.
2.8 To inspect meters for unauthorized connections, defects, and damage such as broken
seals.
2.9 To report to the division office any problems such as meter irregularities, damaged
equipment, or impediments to meter access, including dogs.
2.10 To update customer addresses both physical and email, phone numbers and meter
location information.
2.11 To read residential, commercial, and industrial meters for an assigned route to ensure
billing accuracy and customer satisfaction.

3.0 Qualification and Experience
▪ Minimum of a Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (05) credits including English and
Mathematics

4.0 Knowledge and Skills
• Ability to write a report
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Previous experience working with meters or in data collection
• Experience working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Familiar with basic office software, including Microsoft Office and Google Docs

2. Plumbers (X32): Part-Time Work For Three (03) Months
1.0 Area
▪ All Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company Operational Areas

2.0 Job Accountability
▪ To carry out disconnections, reconnections and leak repairs
3.0 Minimum Requirements

▪ Craft Certificate/Trade Test in Plumbing or Reference Letter
▪ Membership to the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) will be an added advantage
