The Southern Africa Institute for Collaborative Research and Innovation Organization (SAICRIO) has four exciting opportunities to join our team to support a USAID 5-year project.

Position 1 – Chief of Party
About the Job
The Chief of Party (COP) will lead the direction and future strategy of the program. He/ She plays a pivotal role in driving the efficient and effective operations of the program and will serve as the principal liaison to the funders and all strategic stakeholders. The COP will manage all high-level strategic decisions, as well as managing the programs implementation and delivery of established program goals.
Qualifications and Experience
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as education, environmental studies, climate change, disaster management or public policy.
• Grant management qualification highly recommended
• 15 Years senior level experience leading similar programs
• Demonstrated professional experience and working knowledge in inclusive education, disaster risk reduction, climate resilience
• Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Sub- Saharan Africa landscape.
• Experience integrating disability and social inclusion in programming to ensure access for all.
• Ability to establish professional relationships and work collaboratively with government agencies, donors, civil society, and community-based organizations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate a common vision and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Prior experience managing USAID-funded or similar donor-funded agreements with a focus on education, climate resilience, or disaster preparedness
Position 2 – Deputy Chief of Party
About the Job
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will provide leadership to implement the program outcomes and be accountable for their integrated implementation. the direction and future strategy of the program. He/ She assist the COP in operational and technical leadership, focusing on the intersection of education, climate resilience, and disability inclusion.
The DCOP will have two main outcome activities:
1. Assist the COP in operational and technical leadership, focusing on the intersection of education, climate resilience, and disability inclusion.
2. Manage finances, budgets, and grants, ensuring compliance with USAID regulations, particularly focusing on managing small-scale construction and grants to Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs).
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as education, environmental studies, climate change, disaster management or public policy.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in climate resilience, education, or disability inclusion.
• Experience working with local stakeholders, including government entities and DPOs.
• Strong background in program monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
• Support the COP in managing the partnership and coordinating between partners.
• Oversee the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) components of the project, ensuring the project meets its indicators and targets.
• Provide overall program, managerial, and technical support to the COP, overseeing technical staff.
• Coordinate the technical team and subcontracts to fully and accurately implement activities to achieve program results and objectives while complying with USAID rules and regulations;
• Ensure that all assistance provided is technically sound and appropriate to meet activity objectives;
• Build partnerships with key stakeholders, including local implementing partners, government officials, and USAID;
• Oversee annual work planning, performance management, and strategic communications;
• Ensure successful collaboration between project technical staff to design strategy and achieve activity-wide goals and objective
• Ensure lessons learned from project implementation are shared across components and are included in quarterly reports, annual reports, and the annual work plan;
• Review and edit reports and deliverables prepared by Outcome Leads;
• Manage technical oversight of program partners in their technical activities; and
• Perform other duties as required to ensure successful project implementation.
Position 3 – Climate Resilience Advisor
About the Job
The main mandate of the Climate Resilience Advisor is to develop the programs network and initiatives in Climate resilience for program implementation. It involves developing partnership with potential partners (including local civil society, private and public sector partners), donors and private sector, developing project proposals, contributing to prepare materials for communication and networking, as well as ensuring appropriate coordination with key partners and donors, and representation of program in relevant regional and national platforms, networks and with key donors.
The post holder ensures program work is deployed within the standards of the profession, the highest program quality, best practice, and evidence-based thinking, maximizing lessons as part of continuous learning to improve program quality and impact. He/ She will develop disability-inclusive disaster risk mitigation plans for schools, in collaboration with the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU).
Qualifications and Experience
• A university degree (with the highest degree) in a relevant field (e.g: environmental studies, climate change or similar)
• Expertise in disaster risk reduction, particularly for climate-related disasters.
• At least 5-8 years of professional experience in a relevant field in Climate resilience programming
• |International working experience of minimum 2 years in relevant field
• Strong professional networking and positioning skills with proven experience in synthesizing and organizing diverse stakeholders’ interest up to the highest governmental and multilateral levels
• Donor knowledge and resource mobilization experience in climate resilience-related projects
• Proven track record of successful project/program proposal writing in the field of climate resilience
• Experience in integrating local adaptation plans (LAPs) with school disaster plans and ensuring the continuity of education during disasters.
• Expertise in engaging communities and schools in inclusive climate action, with a focus on improving the participation of children with disabilities in climate change mitigation activities.
Position 4 – Disability and Inclusive Education Advisor
About the Job
The Disability and Inclusive Education Advisor will lead in developing and implementing disability-inclusive strategies, ensuring the needs of children with disabilities (CwD) are met in emergency preparedness, disaster risk mitigation, and education.
Qualifications and Experience
• Advanced degree in one or more of the following disciplines: social sciences, development studies, international relations, sociology or other relevant field.
• At least 6 (six) years of professional experience in relevant areas and at least 4 (four) years progressively responsible professional experience in disability inclusion for development projects and/or disability inclusion in a humanitarian assistance context.
• Expertise in developing and implementing disability-inclusive strategies, ensuring the needs of children with disabilities (CwD) are met in emergency preparedness, disaster risk mitigation, and education.
• Expertise in adapting school environments and pedagogical methods to improve participation and educational outcomes for CwD.
• Experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) methodologies is critical.
