Overall Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to maintain the roads and ramps during the shift in line with the operational requirements.

Specific Job Responsibility
• Ensure good operation practices.
• Grading on dumps, ramps and road building, general road maintenance and spillage clean up’s.
• Grade according to a plan and instructions.
• Maintaining dumps, ramps and roads as per set down standards.
• Ensure compliance of safe mining practices.
• Report all substandard/unsafe conditions to Area Supervisor.
• Operate safely by following procedures, hence lost time accidents keep KPI’s levels high.
• Ensure that pre-start checks are done correctly and thoroughly.
• Ability to follow and execute work instructions.
• Maintain a good work relationship with his/her pears.
• Have solid knowledge of road/ramp construction.
• Demonstrate and maintain safety according to mine regulations and set standards.
• Ensure that all matters are reported to the direct supervisor during the shift reporting
• Ensure log on/ off is done prior shift start and shift end
• Report mechanical defects immediately.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Specific Competencies
• Must possess knowledge on how to do the pre- start on the machine.
• Must be able to identify defects.
• Must be conversant with controls/parts and their functions on a machine
• Must possess knowledge about machine shut down and emergency procedures
• Must be able to operate a two-way radio and be able to use of modular system.

Experience required to perform in this job
• At least 2 years’ experience in mining and heavy earthwork machinery operation.
• Knowledge on operating a Grader and its mechanical capabilities.

Qualifications
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Valid Driver’s license with at least 2 years driving experience.
